Listening to prime country on Sirius XM and brought back some awesome memories

I know every generation says this but IMO those were the best years for country.

My favorites

Classic George Strait
Clay Walker
Alan Jackson
Mark Chesnut
Clint Black
Diamond Rio
Bellamy Brothers

I wouldn't say it was the best years of country, but I have a ton of 80s/90s country on my iPod.

King George
Alabama
Hank Jr.
Oak Ridge Boys
Clint Black
Alan Jackson
Shenandoah
Travis Tritt
Restless Heart
Vince Gill

Throw in a little Tracy Byrd, Trisha Yearwood, Confederate Railroad, early Garth and Brooks & Dunn...

I'm a young person so I didn't listen to a lot of old country, but it's definitely way way way better than the crap they're making today.

Yes, this may not have been the golden age of country, but it was the fun age of country.

I'll even go further out on a limb and say I have no qualms about putting late 90s Tim McGraw in this category

Even though Kenny Rogers is my favorite country singer, this is the best era of country music.

Randy Travis is my favorite from the time period.

He was great up until he married Faith Hill. I've never been a fan of hers. And then he goes and does a duet with Nelly and lost any little bit of credibility he had left. It is truly the turning point of country going bro, and we ended up with Florida Georgia Line as a result, Luke Bryan singing about country rock hip-hop mix tapes.

I loved it at the time, but man a lot of that era just hasn't held up well to time. I still like most Clint Black, Alan Jackson, Keith Whitley, Alabama, Dwight Yoakam, Patty Loveless, and a few others. Garth Brooks's stuff is just so bland when I hear it now.
