none of these bands listed will be "classic rock legends" because they aren't classis rock. TOOL is essentially the only one to receive consistent mainstream radioplay over the past 20 years and that's mainly due to "sober", their biggest breakthrough "hit" song.
argument could be made for monster magnet as well, with their "space lord mother" song. that's had radioplay, but not nearly as much as "sober" if I would guess.
the format for radio isn't the same as it was in the 80's like the article alludes to. times have changed.
