I start threads about stuff that isn't Phish almost daily
I started a favorite all time song thread yesterday and got like 6-7 downvotes
Everyone complaining about Phish needs to get the frick over it. There are probably more Tool threads than Phish threads started in the last 2-3 days on here.

Its really hard to do this because its such a diverse genre. You can't really compare Iron Maiden to Cannibal Corpse even though both are hugely successful and influential, though Maiden much more so commercially. Underground credibility is sometimes more important than commercial success.

I agree with the difficulty of ranking different styles of metal bands. Thrash metal and death metal compare just as much as hair metal would to goth metal,; not very well. But I think your rankings are how I would go about ranking them. I'd only add Pantera to Tier 1 simply for the fact that Dimebag was a god on the axe
