I didn't read all 9 pages to know if this has already been posted, but Big Lebowski is fricking terrible. I've tried to watch it at least 20 times and have turned it off or fallen asleep every time due to how fricking terrible it is.

I thought The Notebook and Love Actually were great movies. Nothing wrong with a good love story

RIPD isn't near as bad as people make it out to be. It's an enjoyable popcorn movie.

As a kid, I enjoyed Iron Eagle more than Top Gun.

Harrison Ford's acting in the Star Wars OT was horrendous, especially in ANH.

I don't think he's a good actor in anything. He has a smirky attitude which works for Indiana Jones and Han Solo. And he was good in Regarding Henry. Otherwise he's wooden. Laughably bad in Blade Runner.

Tom Cruise, while an extremely weird guy, is a phenomenal actor.

I agree. His acting is underrated.

movies from the Hollywood golden age (e.g. 1940s, 50s and early 60s) are profoundly overrated and overacted.

Yeah I can't stand old movies. The dialogue and acting are usually absurd and overall they're mostly boring.

I'll take this opportunity to use this thread in the way it should be used: I personally disagree because his acting was supposed to be in the vein of '40s noir flawed hero trope. Why do you think it's bad?

He was as wooden as he usually is, which I can deal with, but that fist fight scene sticks out in my mind as being really bad. Maybe the fault is not all his for that.

I really enjoyed Avatar. I thought it was visually mesmerizing.

Its angle was obvious but I still enjoyed it.

My favorite Chris Nolan movie is The Prestige

Is that really unpopular? The prestige is a highly regarded film.

While I like him and he has charisma, Denzel has limited range just like Jack and basically plays himself in every movie.

The one with Leon? He had four fights where he went hand-to-hand a bit, but the Leon one would probably fit the parameters of "fist fight" best. I'd have to rewatch with an eye toward the acting there. If he's bad, it could be his fault or it could be Ridley Scott's -- that was one of his earliest feature films, so he had less experience at directing back then.

I suspect we're seeing the same thing and interpreting it differently. If someone asked me to characterize Harrison Ford's acting in that movie, I'd call it subdued rather than wooden, but both words can describe the same thing. I don't have a problem with it because I expect a noir hero to be gruff, reserved, and a bit gritty, so Ford's acting worked for me. If he'd done the same acting in, say, "Raiders of the Lost Ark," then I'd have a huge problem with it.

The Godfather movies are complete trash.

John Wayne movies suck and he was a terrible actor.

The Princess Bride is not funny...at all. Neither is Spaceballs.

Yeah, especially since he's clearly actively planning to kill and overthrow him in Empire. Seems like he had no reason to stay loyal.

Anchor Man is not that funny.

The Dark Knight is way too long and is overrated.

The Postman was the first thing I thought of when I saw this thread. I enjoy it, and whenever I turn to it on a channel, I watch it till the end.

The worst movie I ever saw in the theater was the Matrix. I hated it.

- The original Pete's Dragon is much more deserving of a 'ban' than Song of the South

- The Untouchables is a better movie than Goodfellas (and Scarface is an objectively terrible movie)

- A Christmas Story is a movie that should never be watched around Christmas (it is an anti-Christmas story)

- John Malkovich is an incredibly overrated actor

- Hugh Jackman does a worse job than Russell Crowe in Les Mis. The reason Crowe sounds worse is because he's singing in a different style from Jackman, but he's not doing a bad job. He's doing an ok job in his style, while Jackman is doing a bad job in his style. (They should have cast Alfie Boe for the role, but they decided on name rather than quality to sell tickets).

- Happy Feet is one of the worst movies of all time.
