I don't think it's impossible to make a good one, but it's hard to argue with you when the evidence speaks for itself.

Come on man. Cranston was barely entertaining and they cut him out quick. Kickass Kid was as boring as toast. If they had a Roy Scheider, Richard Dreyfuss, and Robert Shaw in the movie with fully formed characters, then you could get away with less Godzilla. But what they gave us was a boring backstory lightly seasoned with the occasional Godzilla sighting.

I liked the new one. I think people get too nostalgic over the original (1954) movie. Don't get me wrong, I loved Gojira but it's not Shakespeare. It's a monster movie. I would have loved to have seen more of him in the new movie, but the parts he was in were awesome. If I remember, in the original movie there was only 25-30 minutes of Godzilla screen time.

I cannot tell you how much I love this response.

I suppose it could be that way, but seeing as how I'd rather shoot myself in the dick than sit through the average Bay movie, it probably isn't. As FK pointed out, the characters were shallow, incredibly so, and the only reasonably well-developed one (redacted for spoilers). The plot was incoherent and never seemed to choose a path. It just jumped around from character to character, all of whom just stand around watching monsters break things. Actually, the movie seems to have wanted to go in the direction of the Michael Bay movies you love so much, but even in that regard, it fails spectacularly.

If, as you suggest, their intention was to make a serious, contemplative fricking Godzilla movie, then they, and you, are complete, nerf-chewing idiots whose drivers licenses should be revoked and whose testicles should be removed.

The last two American movies have failed because they focused on lame people and their stories and not Godzilla. The focus of these movies should be Godzilla. We should be seeing nonstop giant monster fights with massive destruction, not little snippets here and there mixed in with whatever lame human storyline. Its the same complaint I have about the Transformer movies.

Liked that big-neck, atomic fire-breathing, sh#t smashing lizard. Could've used some esplain why he seemed to have feels for us & didn't, yaknow - eat that nuclear fleet like powerbars on the way to the coast, but maybe that's for a sequel.

Also loved setup with Bikini atoll tests.

I thought it was pretty good. The first time I saw it I was pissed because they kept cutting away from the Godzilla fights. They would lead up to this awesome showdown and then cut away from it. The final fight was good, but by then I was so pissed about the missed opportunities.
