Except that you didn't have to be terminally diseased to be "disguised", which proved to be one of the more fatuous aspects of the film.

The solider who reportedly stood in the middle of 7 zombies and shot them all down had nothing more than a bum knee, yet he was apparently ignored by the infected.

Yeah, it was silly and as I stated earlier seemed like a cop out. It's like they didn't know how to end the film and just said frick it. Of course, I've read where that wasn't the original ending and they did a reshoot. I can only imagine how bad the ending they didn't go with was.

TBH, I bet it was that Pitt actually died, but that didn't test well on audiences.

To be fair, we never found out what was causing that bum knee, though.

As zombie apocalypse movies go, I think this is the best one I've seen. Granted, I haven't seen many.

Solid movie.

I thought the noncommittal pseudo-ending was pretty comical. "Yeah.....we don't know how this is going to play out money wise, so here is an open ended finale that still gives a modicum of closure."
I actually didn't mind the ending. Sure, it could've been more final, but after Pitt discovered the "camouflage" technique, where would the movie have gone from there? To the scientists' attempts to find a cure?. . . Basically, after two hours, I was ready for the movie to end anyways. So, even though it might've been the lazy way to end it, I thought it came at a good place (after the camouflage discovery) and a good time (I didn't want a 2.5-3 hour zombie movie). JMO

My point is that there was a time where they considered this to be a franchise and not a one off movie.

They had a half measure ending where it had closure, but left the book firmly open for a sequel.

It could have been so much more though.

Part of the thing that set WWZ (the book) apart from other zombie fiction is the scale.

It went global where most zombie stuff is just following a small group of survivors cut off from the rest of the world.

This somewhat follows that trend.

I really liked it. Maybe if I was a book readers, then I might feel different, but everyone in my group of six thought it was very entertaining.

I agree it was entertaining, but I was still disappointed somewhat knowing it could have been so much more. Book knowledge really hinders your ability to enjoy this film IMO.

you should watch 28 days later.

I also agree w/ some posters who have read the book and come away from this film feeling disappointed.

*Also until I got back from the movies and checked wiki, I had no idea that this was going to be a trilogy of films.

It's been years since I saw it, but I don't remember it being all that special. If I had to say today, I'd probably take WWZ over 28 Days. Like I say, though, it's been a while since I've seen it.

I'm sure that will not be the majority opinion.

In January 2012, director Forster and Paramount said they "each view World War Z as a trilogy that would have the grounded, gun-metal realism of Matt Damon's Jason Bourne series tethered to the unsettling end-times vibe of AMC's The Walking Dead."[75]

saw this on wiki.

that ending was left entirely too wide open for them not to take a sequel.

Watched it last night, I have also read the book. I thoroughly enjoyed it even though I wish they had included Yonkers and some of the cooler book stuff.
