I really enjoyed the 1990 version and The Secret of the Ooze but they aren't what you'd call great films.

I would call the first one great. Secret of the Ooze was pretty good too.

Isn't this kind of like asking will there ever be a healthy bacon double cheeseburger? TMNT can be entertaining but it's a pretty dumb concept and it's made for 10 year old boys.

As a kid I watched all 3 MULTIPLE times and liked Ooze better, but now I realize the original is the best one. I would love a non cheese, non cgi, badass and gritty version of TMNT.

Somebody needs to get on that

Hey you don't know what was in that ooze the turtles were found in.
Is it that dumb that scientists could create some crazy new substance that made them humanoid.

But after a day, a spider bite can allow Tobey Maguire to shoot webs out his wrist and cures his near-sightedness

Not just the suspension of disbelief but there's pretty essential elements of their story that are just stupid and kiddie(pizza, turtle puns, Mikey basically having to be a jokey little kid).

A gritty, non-cheese movie of turtles who are exposed to toxic waste (along with a rat), grow to super size and intelligence, and are trained by the rat in martial arts?

I mean i guess they can order margherita pizzas.

They are kids. How did you act when you were 14?

The 90 movie was great. So great that parents groups had them tone down the violence in the second one. IIRC, the comics were much more like the first movie than any of the sequels.

I enjoyed the animated TMNT. Older turtles that have gone their separate ways that have to come back together. It wasn't terrible. Mako's last movie as the voice of Splinter, too.
