What about latino actors and asian actors and so on? Latinos make up a higher percentage in the country than blacks yet it's always about catering to the blacks.
Because they are supposedly the worst treated race of all time. Slaves weren't invented in the history of man till 1619, so it's only fair..Or something.

Make better movies and you'll get more nominations. You don't get a nomination just because you're black. That would be racist if the Academy based nominations on skin color...know what I mean?

Blueboy has no clue about the many manly responsibilities you have. You're a division manager in charge of 49 people after all.

You seem really butthurt lately. Wanna talk about it?
For a nominal fee, of course.

I'm good, I just enjoy messing with you as you enjoy messing with others.

Yes, it's utter bullshite they have been excluded, too. It's two straight years in which all 20 actor nominees have been white. Couldn't find one Latino to nominate? Here, I'll help: Benico del Toro in Sicario.
As Spike Lee pointed out in his original statement, this isn't really about the Oscars. We need more representation in Hollywood movies in general. It just manifests itself in an all white Oscar slate after persons of color are systematically excluded from the entire process. I don't think it's intentional, it's just a series of unconscious biases that eventually ends up in all of the top movies having less than diverse casts. And hell, Hollywood should want diverse casts in order to make more money. I don't know about y'all, but my neighborhood isn't all white, so why should my entertainment be?
The slap in the face is they nominated the only white guys involved in Straight Outta Compton or they nominated the white guy, Stallone, in a heavily black cast of creed.
I would point out Inaritu is nominated for best director, and won last year. As well as two other foreign born directors (Miller is Australian and Abrahamson is Irish).

And everyone alive lived through slavery. They were all slaves, and we were masters, and they still are slaves, and we are still masters you see. Im a plantation now, on a horse, with my whip. They have first hand knowledge of slavery, we never can because we have white skin.

A slap in the face for Hollywood vaginas being hurt. We all see those movies, and the people have spoken, Creed was good and Straight Outta Compton was good. The little gold trophy means nothing to us. Just put out a good movie, and they'll be fine.

Have any of the people complaining about the lack of black nominations made even one recommendation of who exactly got screwed this year? The issue isn't that the Academy refuses to nominate black actors, the issue is that Hollywood doesn't have the type of roles for black actors that garners nominations. Have any of these people mentioned that Asians weren't nominated and hardly ever are? Or any other race, for that matter. This isn't a black/white issue, they are trying to force it into one. The nominations next year should be very interesting.
I love the meme above about how the NBA is too black. Where is the problem there? Oh, it is merit based? Well so are award nominations. Again, if Hollywood had meatier roles for other races we would see them get more nominations. If programs were out there to develop more talent among whites/latinos/asians/etc then perhaps we would see those numbers rise in the NBA but those programs would be racist to begin with..so...

It's an awards show, it's not denying someone a job, renting an apartment or buying a home due to restrictive covenants. I don't get why our society gets fussed about meaningless pats on the back? Everyone gets a trophy society.
Didn't this just happen with the Grammys? Do the Grammys have a Race Problem?

Aunt Viv from Fresh Prince isn't on board apparently, her response to Jada and Will:
quote:
“First of all, Miss Thing, does your man not have a mouth of his own with which to speak? Second thing is, girlfriend, there’s a lot of shite going on in the world that you all don’t seem to recognize. People are dying, our boys are being shot left and right, people are hungry, people are trying to pay bills, and you’re talking about some mother%^%$$#@#$% actors and Oscars. It just ain’t that deep.”
“Maybe you didn’t deserve a nomination. I frankly didn’t think you deserved a Golden Globe nomination with that accent, but you got one. Just because the world doesn’t go the way you wanted it to go doesn’t mean you can go out and then start asking people to start singing ‘We Shall Overcome’ for you. You ain’t Barack and Michelle Obama, and you need to get over yourselves.”

Black people make up 13% of the population. You're accurately represented in Hollywood and at the Oscars. Cry me a river.

This.
The best actors will continue to get the best jobs, and in this country most of the people tend to be white so they would obviously have more candidates. Not that complicated
