I think Black Dynamite is picking up some serious steam of late.

More and more people are finding out about it all the time.. I dunno.. but I definitely think it's the best of anything else mentioned in here.

I will vote for Old School tho.

Old School definitely. And IMO, I think 40 Year Old Virgin will hold up really well and eventually be considered an all-time great comedy.

There's Something About Mary could also make it, though less so than 40YOV I think.

When I saw 40YOV, it was the funniest movie I had seen since Dumb and Dumber, and that's high praise from me (since D&D is my #1 funniest movie of all time).

No way.

I'll go with Super Troopers, definitely.

What about Thank You For Smoking?

That's a great movie, but too few people know about it IMO. So I'm not sure how classic it will become. Most people think I'm talking about a porn when I ask them if they've seen it.

Except it wasn't that funny.

Step-brothers, Anchorman, Old School or one of the Broken Lizard movies.

Not that I loved it but im glad that you get to determine what other people think is funny.

Anywho, to the OP, how far back is recent? I was thinking you meant the past two or three years but then movies like Super Troopers was getting mentioned. I think the 00's was the greatest decade for comedies ever. Tons of classics to me.

Zoolander
Hot Rod
Nacho Libre
Orange County
Anchorman
Talladega Nights
Forgetting Sarah Marshal
Old School
40YOV
The Murders of Gunner Keil, Landon Collins and Toshiro Davis
And a bunch I'm forgetting I'm sure.

Edit: guess that last one is technically in the horror genre.

Ok we got to draw a timeline somewhere. Mid 90's is recent? If we do 90's I might have 40 movies

I'd say that last one qualifies as "feel-good drama"

Hahaha

Anchorman
Wedding Crashers
Old School
Super Troopers
The Hangover
Meet the Parents (I've never laughed harder in a movie theater on a first viewing of a comedy than for Meet the Parents)
40 Year Old Virgin

ETA: I see Cokes hating on Idiocracy, but that movie still makes me laugh pretty damn hard.

I'm surprised it took until the 3rd page for somebody to mention this one. Maybe nobody likes it on this board, but, to me it is one of this generation's classics. And, on the topic of it standing the test of time, because, it's essentially a buddy hang out/High-School movie it will always be relevant IMO.

That will be like an underground college classic for awhile before morphing into something more.

I think Meet the Parents is already there.

The following all have a shot:

Best in Show
Bad Santa
Super Troopers
Shaun of the Dead

I can't believe it took until the second page for this to get mentioned and fricking Anchorman had been mentioned like 8 times before it. About 90% of you prefer Anchorman over Step Brothers? I feel like I am taking crazy pills!!!! WTF is wrong with you people?
