What's the most recent Comedy that would be a legitimate all time classic?

There have been plenty of good comedies the over the last few years but are there any that will be viewed in the same category or level as the classic old comedies?

Like Blazing Saddles or Harlem Nights just to name a couple?

Probably not because once something is deemed really funny, then it becomes cool to hate on it. We live in an age of hipsters.

I could see Scott Pilgrim becoming a true comedy classic, but the only one I can say for sure right now is the Big Lebowski or Office Space. 2000s films are still up in the air if they'll stand the test of time.

I could definitely see anchorman holding up in 20 years since it was a mock of the 70s anyway.

Its always a good sign for a comedy if it is some sort of period piece. I'd venture to say the majority of truly great comedies are.

I think The Hangover 1 qualifies. It takes a widely relate-able premise and does it damn near perfectly IMO

I feel Old School should be working it's way into this category very soon.

Except it wasn't that funny.

Step-brothers, Anchorman, Old School or one of the Broken Lizard movies.

It won't age that well, especially when the third one comes out.

True classic from the opening scene alone.

best nomination yet.

I think while it was not a huge box office hit it could be viewed as a classic over the next 10-15 years.

That one definitely.

Beerfest is pretty good too. I liked Club Dread and Slammin Salmon a lot, but those two I don't think deserve to be on the list.
