I'd guess they'd go with Danvers.

Marvel Studios really doesn't care who's an Inhuman or who came first or whatever. They had Vision and Ultron created by Stark, they had Ant-Man active decades before everyone but Cap, they killed off Quicksilver without making him a full Avenger... They'll do what they think works best for their movies.

They'll decide on a Captain Marvel and make their origin fit the current movie universe.

Putting Hulk in Thor is a money move by Marvel. Just make another Hulk movie. Thor movies alone have been mediocre.

They aren't likely to make another pure Hulk film b/c Universal still owns the distribution rights. Marvel wasn't happy at all w/how Universal handed Incredible Hulk internationally. More importantly, now that Disney owns Marvel, there is a serious squabble over the rights for using the characters at theme parks. Universal in Orlando gets to use characters like Spiderman, Hulk, and the Fantastic Four. Disney wants that back for their theme parks and Universal wants no part of that. So until Disney and Universal can come to an agreement, we don't get no Hulk movie.

They can include Hulk in other Marvel movies all day long though which is why Hulk will be in Thor 3.

OF COURSE they are going Danvers. There's absolutely no question they want to get their feminist female super hero film out as quickly as possible. In fact, they sort of dropped the ball by pushing it back so much and allowing DC to get Wonder Woman into theaters first, so DC will have the first superhero film headlined by a female character.

The Carol Corps are not to be trifled with. And Captain Marvel, the Kree warrior dude, has not been a living character in the Marvel universe since 1980. Danvers has been carrying the Captain Marvel mantle since then (even when she was Ms. Marvel). I also think they are going to get a huge star for Carol Danvers, as she will likely take the place of prominence from RDJ and Chris Evans when their contracts expire.

Ms. Marvel is the Pakistani Inhuman from New Jersey (Kamala Khan).

She has powers similar to Mystique (shapeshifting) and Wolverine (Healing Factor)

She's an inhuman? I thought she inheirted Carol power like how Carol inherited hers. Maybe in a PC moves, Carol inherit her power from Kamala.

The Terrigen bomb gave Miss Marvel her powers.

In the MCU, it's the tainted fish.

I don't know about that. The new Ghostbusters movie is gonna get ripped to shreds when it drops.

Marvel said awhile back that their Captain Marvel movie was going to feature Carol Danvers. Joss Whedon was pushing to have her make an appearance in AoU but Kevin Feige nixed that idea. Speaking of Feige, within the last week he basically said that The Inhumans was off indefinitely and that it wasn't going to make it out in 2019. I'm pretty sure Marvel is content with their current/coming crop of heroes anyways. If they can acquire Fantastic Four, that will have them set for Phase 4.

The problem with Inhumans is that it's already a major part of Agents of Shield. Personally, I would make it a series on Starz called "Attilan".

Have the entire season explore the origins of the royal family, how they got their powers, how they founded Attilan. Have it tie in to Agents of Shield by Medusa entrusting Jiayang with Afterlife before they remove the city from Earth.

Season 2 could pick up 20 years later during the terrigen outbreak.

WW was the most interesting thing about BvS so that'd get my vote for likely fresh. Suicide Squad I'm not sure about, I hope it's good but I'm afraid after BvS.

On the Marvel side, the Doctor Strange teaser or whatever the other day did nothing for me. Looked like the Matrix+Inception, but I do like Cumberbatch so it's a maybe. Spiderman may be bad, I know it's partially produced by Marvel but it's also being produced by Sony and they don't have the best track record with Spiderman.

They've had 2 great movies, 1 good, and two bad with him. They have no creative control over the movie.

Pretty much this, although Monica Rambeau-of New Orleans was "Captain Marvel" by name and Danvers went by several codenames and even joined the mfricking XMen for minute.

If this is an origin story I will be interested to see how they do without seeming to much like Hal Jordan's origin story.

Dr Strange will be interesting. I'm very intrigued by that movie because it just looks so different than any other Marvel movie we've seen. It has a straight horror director directing it. It's a mystery as to what that movie will be like, IMO.

As far as GotG 2? There's no way I could possibly see that as having a rotten rating. James Gunn is returning. The budget will be bigger. The cast is returning. I just see that as being an extension of the success of the first one.

Carol Danvers' origin is a mix of Bruce Banner's and Steve Rogers' origins.

She gets her powers by accident, but she's a military officer and thinks in that manner.

The closest thing to Hal Jordan in Marvel is Richard Rider.

Right, but in a 2 hour movie, you take the bare bones of a previous Captain Mar-vel, her being a fighter pilot and that's basically Hal Jordan's core story.

I love Monica Rambeau, though she has no relation to the Mar-Vell character. I think we'll see her in the Captain Marvel movie as well, just as a hunch. Danvers did change to Binary for a bit, but that was more Chris Clarement fixing the damage caused by the infamous Avengers #200 plotline. My point is she's always been the banner-carrier for the Mar-Vell power set, even when she was Ms. Marvel (or Binary).

But if I'm Marvel, I take a look at the demographics and my current sales charts, and I make Danvers the centerpiece of Phase IV. More women than men attended ComicCon last year. They are an underserved market, which is why female-centric titles are exploding right now: women buy comics at the same rate as men, and surprise, they like to see themselves represented. Now, they have to be good, too, which is why Captain Marvel is a success first and foremost. Kelly Sue DeConnick is one of the best writers in the Marvel stable (though she just quit to write Bitch Planet for Image... which is fricking awesome by the way, if lacking any subtlety whatsoever).

Marvel’s ‘Inhumans’ Removed From Disney’s Release Schedule
quote:

Disney has removed Marvel’s “Inhumans” from its release schedule, waiting until late Friday night on Passover weekend to do so. In October 2014, Marvel’s Kevin Feige announced that “Inhumans” had been slated for release on Nov. 2, 2018. Then, in February 2015, the release was pushed back to July 12, 2019, with “Captain Marvel” taking over the old date.

Now, however, the film has officially been removed from Disney’s release calendar. The studio did not announce a new date, and it remains to be seen whether the film will move forward. Stay tuned
