it wouldn't be feasible. There are just way too many intricate battle scenes with a ton of aes sedai doing all sorts of random shite that would require a lot of CGI. Maybe as a cartoon but a series would just be ridiculous in terms of cost.
This. It would be terrible. Just think of Nynaeve versus Moghedien the first time (Tanchico, maybe?). They are both literally just standing there throwing weaves at one another. I seriously doubt they could pull that off. Or when Rand is fighting Logain in Rhuidean. At the end, they are both holding onto the sa'angreal and fighting each other with weaves while not moving a muscle. It is just so much better with one's imagination.
Besides, WOT is 14 books with more subplots than GOT (though GOT might be catching up in that regard). After seeing how much they had to change GOT due to limited budget (the neutered Direwolves primarily), I don't want HBO anywhere near WOT.
Agreed, they would either have to spend an exorbitant amount of money and have it go on for years, or dumb it down and cut out half (or more) of the books' content. The first option is likely unfeasible and the second option would suck.

Harry Turtledove Southern Victory series.

Anyone here read Eragon and Eldest. A movie that actually does those books justice would be great. Easily enough material for a HBO style miniseries or movie trilogy. The movie they made was bullshite and it cut out his whole bonding and training process and lots of character development and generally what made the book great.
Also a brutally violent R rated dbz series that does the best anime series ever justice.

Get used to it. Movies suck nowadays and all the good actors directors and writers are moving to TV and series type shows while people like Michael Bay are the mainstream movie makers now

MAKE THIS HAPPEN
Good God. I'm excited just watching an animated introduction sequence for an imagined TV show. AHHHHHhhhhhh I would kill for this. Literally.

Gettysburg was based on Killer Angles. Gods and Generals was based on the prequel, Gods and Generals.

I think they would make a better series of movies if done right. I don't think I've ever seen one of Asimov's stories done right on the big screen though.
I think one of the stories of that series was actually sold to a movie studio a while ago. Maybe it was The Naked Sun. I'm not sure.

Read the Mongoliad Cycle. It is set just after Genghis' death while Ogedai Khan is ruling.
Also, see the movie Mongol. It is incredible.

Dark Towers made into a series for HBO.

I've been needing to see KoH directors cut. I liked the movie but it always seemed like something was missing. The director cut sounds way better.

I just got the Foundation series in the mail today. Thank you Amazon Prime.

I personally think the format of limited, closed-end series that follow a specific storyline (I know there is a name for those but it escapes me) is one of the best things that's happened to the "video entertainment" (ie movies,tv,ect.) in quite some time.
Of course there are series and then there are series. But for me things like Lonesome Dove, Band of Brothers, Battlestar Galactica, True Detective, and many others have provided some quality watching.

I've seen Mongol. Fantastic. I want a tv series like Vikings about Genghis Kahn though.
