I know he's just a producer for this show, but damnit! Anything this man touches turns into gold.

It's JJ Abrams for those who haven't watched South Park.

Per Wiki: "Timeline" has been the term of choice on every site from the start. I think most people know that it's not a literal alternate timeline scenario i.e. A timeline where hitler was a dictator and a timeline where hitler was a priest instead, it's just a term that sounds good and people can pick up on the implication pretty easily. Clearly, it is one sequence of events with events from different points in time being shown, the term "timeline" was just the given name for these different points for whatever reason

Thanks for your rational/objective response. I understand how the meanings of words can become part of the vernacular for a particular context. I just think time period or time frame better describes the flashbacks since timeline can obviously refer to the entire time sequence of events represented by Westworld.

The whole reference to Delores "killing" Arnold just seems too out of character for the early days of the host Delores. Couple that with the unknown goal or result of the maze, and the writers have the ability to really screw with the viewers understanding of what is going on.

Instead of killing Arnold, what if Delores somehow trapped Arnold in the maze, and therefore a timeline? After several years of it being apparent that Arnold could not escape the maze, Ford creates Bernard to replace Arnold as someone that can present themselves to the hosts as their memory of Arnold. In this capacity, Bernard can still gather intel from the hosts that Ford can use to make sure Arnold has not gained the ability to escape the maze . . . yet the host, such as Delores are being led by their memory to the maze in order to release Arnold.

MIB through his constant trips to the park and through knowledge gained as a board member, has gathered enough information to piece together that the maze exists and that the end result of the maze contains something that Ford does not want exposed or released.

Somehow or another there is going to be a big mind-frick at the end of this thing. Maybe Ford ends up being a host that Arnold created which then tuned on Arnold and, because he couldn't kill him, he trapped him in the maze?

The fact that there is so much speculation as to what is going to happen is what makes these types of shows so interesting. Let everyone interpret it how they want and then everybody gets their mind blown to varying degrees in the end

Don't think that's Bernard, looks like the same black host that's a deputy in the current Sweetwater.

Well, it could be metaphorical. It could be a memory implant by Ford to control Delores better. It could be a lot of things.

Or, it could be Occam's Razor - there was a "malfunction" - resulting from Ford's machinations, Arnold's or perhaps because they are at cross purposes - the "massacre" occurs (during which Arnold is killed) and there is a reset afterwards, prior to the park opening for actual guests. Ford covers up the details to prevent damage to the reputation of the park (and by extension, himself).

I don't have any reason to believe Delores isn't "at fault" for Arnold's death. Degree of separation (actually pulling a trigger or starting a string of events) doesn't concern me much from a plot perspective.

I'm in the middle of Episode 8, and I love it so far, but no way in hell would those two guys go along with Maeve in all this. Seriously, Sylvester should just go "frick this. She's at best Ava from Ex Machina and will kill us to get her freedom, and best case scenario we'll get canned when she escapes. So I'm ratting her out and getting her destroyed by the people running this joint."

Her plotline just pisses me off on how much those two are going along with it. She has no collateral on them, not to mention the fact that there should be cameras on them at all times and colleagues are walking around seeing them through glass walls. Someone needs to sit the writers down and let them know that there's no possible way this would work with rational people.

I think that's where we all are with it. And there was also that scene where they were showing her around. Just couldn't buy it.

I'm in agreement, unless there is some sort of serious martial punishment for screwing up on the job, I don't understand why the lab tech hasn't run screaming to his superiors yet.

I almost have to wonder if they wrote/shot this in chronological order and then scrambled it later.

Especially since it was revealed they had an issue with her the previous year. Just incinerate her already.

They almost certainly didn't film it in chronological order or anything close to the order we see on screen. Constant costume and set changes would be much more expensive because it would drag out production. You don't put Delores in her pretty blue dress for ten takes with Teddy, then put her in her cowgirl getup for 20 with William, then back to the pretty blue dress for 5 takes with MiB. They'd plan out the filming on a project this large as best they could to minimize costume, cast, and set changes.

Lighting, dude. However, even if it's not him... it's definitely not Bernard.

Yeah man, that's totally Bernard! Never mind the totally different nose, lips, eyebrows, and complexion. It's definitely him
