And honestly, that wasn’t why the movie was bad.
Horrible comedic timing, plot holes that make no sense, the complete lack of regard for build up in the previous film (if this weren’t the 8th episode in a 9 episode saga then maybe it would’ve been ok), a lackluster ending, Luke Skywalker went from believing the baddest Sith in the galaxy could still have good in him to trying to butcher a kid in his sleep because he “saw darkness in him”, give me a break.
This. There are fundamental flaws in the movie that don’t even touch on the critiques of the SJW bullshite. And I know people, including myself, are pissed about Luke being a hermit, but there is plenty more wrong with what he had to do in the movie than him being an outcast. And that’s just his character. Every single character, even BB-8 was laughable, like a spoof of the characters they used to play

There are things about this movie that are not great, but it doesn’t warrant the amount of hate it’s gotten.
Everyone bitches about how Luke was portrayed. Except he’s acting pretty much exactly how Yoda was acting when he first went to him for training. He had hidden himself and n a remote planet and no longer wanted anything to do with the force or Jedi.
People also missed a key moment. Remember when Yoda was training Luke and Luke said “I’m not afraid” and Yoda responds with “you will be”? What if THIS is what Yoda was referring to? Luke is now afraid of the force because he saw the power and the darkness inside Kylo. I don’t recall any other time where Luke was “afraid”. Perhaps Yoda (known for being able to see events in the future) saw this moment in time for Luke.

And the women in the movie have all of the heroic moments (Asian chicks sister sacrificing herself, Fat Asian then sets animals free, Leia flying through space like Superman, Holdo sacrifices herself, Fat Asian then “saves” Finn. Rey comes through in the end and saves their asses twice, once when she first arrives in the Falcon and then when she lifts the rocks.
I mean come on man. It’s spelled out for you

It deserves every amount of criticism. You can have great women characters with a message without beating people over the head with it, look at Mad Mad: Fury Road.
People have throughout the thread discussed reasons why the movie sucks outside of this. Oh, and Yoda trained 100’s of Jedi and studied the force for nearly 900 years. He has the excuse of going into exile. And hell, having studied the Force for that long and even he couldn’t do what Leia did, survive out in space for minutes and then zoom around. Not even, Yoda, but let’s give it to Leia who hasn’t had any training

The entire holdo-poe subplot feels like it was written for by a Gawker journalist "mansplaining is bad even in space mmmmkay"

So? That’s kind of things we should all be against. And it wasn’t against capitalism, it was against war for profit. You know, what Vietnam and all the wars in the Middle East that we have been involved in have been about. The United States has been running a welfare scheme for companies like Lockheed Martin for decades now.

Because the Empire was always very racist and sexist. It was a reflection of the 3rd Reich. That’s why there are no women in charge either. This was all highly touched on in the extended universe. You going to bitch about the OT now? Because there were no black people in the Empire then either. It was all white males.

You don’t know that Yoda couldn’t do what Leia did. Just because it didn’t happen doesn’t mean it couldn’t happen. you are arguing about realism in a movie about space magic. Seriously?
