Because you are pointing out that as a reason for the TLJ hate.
He is pointing out that SW is full of that kind of thing, and there was no problem from fans.
You said there was. It follows that you are saying there was a problem with female leadership from fans in eps 1-7.
I asked "who?", and you mentioned a fan edit.
So you are, in the course of this discussion, claiming there are anti-chick-leader fan edits of previous installments, since the example necessarily excludes TLJ due to it being an example to counter an argument regarding TLJ.

The idea that Star Wars needed strong women because they were not there is silly. Never saw Leia as the damsel in distress type. Yes, they saved her in the first movie, but she saved them in other movies. It is really silly. The problem with Star Wars is they have gotten away from the ethos of what made it good. I clear fight between good and evil.

She was also very strong willed and assertive in the first movie. She was no damsel. As soon as they rescued her she took charge and remained in the lead for the duration of the film.
