This is not a political statement or a slam on our military, it's about Hollywood.

I read the book when it came out and enjoyed it. (I think Lone Survivor was better though). But I had read that much of the movie was fictionalized, so I wasn't very enthused about watching it.

Why does Hollywood feel the need to sensationalized every damn story? I thought the script was pretty terrible. Most of the combat scenes in the movie never happened. The whole time I was watching the movie I'm thinking, "WTF? That wasn't in the book!" When the movie was over, my wife asked me if all of that really happened, and I said, "No, pretty much all of it was made up."

In conclusion, although I like Eastwood and Cooper, I don't think they hit a homerun.

RIP Chris Kyle.

Same here. I thought the movie was okay but not as great as I expected.

It was good, but I was a little disappointed in the movie after reading the book. Still better than most.

I know this, but it's more about Hollywood fricking up good stories than a movie review.

I agree. I was expecting it to be a bit more factual than it was. I still enjoyed the movie and what it represents, it just left me wanting more.

What leads you to believe that there may have been battles that happened that weren't put in the book? Do you not think that he had 160 confirmed kills because each and every one weren't documented in the book?

Have not watched it yet. Just have not been in the right frame of mind, if that makes sense.

The couple of questions I had pertained to can they really call home or take calls from home while up on a roof top doing sniper duty??? Or call in the middle of a shite storm and say "honey I'm coming home"???

Not being ugly but those are the 2 things that stood out to me.

Yep. Like I told my wife, why do they take a great story that doesn't need any embellishments and frick it up with all the sensationalism?

Well more times than not a book can capture a whole lot more than a 2-3 hour movie. Things have to be condensed, dramatized, and made into more of a beginning to end story.

I read the book and saw the movie. I don't feel as strongly as you. Yes, the movie focused more on different things but got the overall point across that the book was trying to get which was that Chris Kyle was a badass that cared more about defending freedom and saving his comrades than he cared about himself.
