Yes I do too. From the very beginning when she's a cat until my favorite scene involving her when Harry defends her from being spat upon she was underutilized.

wut... his test scores would suggest he was above average... his practical abilities as well.

I do not think he's great. What set him apart were his relationships.

for the longest time I thought she was secretly a Death Eater b/c she was watching the Dursley's house in animagi form the night Harry's parents got killed. She didn't know why Dumbledore was there and was shocked he knew that a cat was actually her.

So am I crazy or is Harry a great wizard despite not showing the brilliance of Dumbledore and others?

I think he's pretty clearly great. Let's not forget that he didn't know he was a wizard until he was 11. I assume most, if not all, other wizards would have been killed much earlier if they had been put in his position.

I would've jumped out of whatever the hell I was sitting in if that was written in there.

Harry was a very smart person, and an incredible problem solver.

Add that to his natural abilities in magic, and yes, harry was well on his way to being a great wizard by the end of book 7.

The things that made people great wizards in the books weren't natural talent but the same things that make people great in any other line of work.

I do however wish he had been forced to use the unforgivable curses to defeat Voldemort. Being able to do it all without casting an intentional killing curse is a pretty massive cop-out IMO.

Exactly, and the part in the Order of the Phoenix, I think, when he runs Bellatrix down after killing Sirius he tries using it and apparently can't "mean it" according to Voldemort.

That is just a load of bull shite. If someone just killed my only family I had, after thinking I had no family for years already, I'm pissed off enough to kill that person. It doesn't matter how good a human being you are. In that moment you're going to mean it.

Great write up. Makes me want to re watch the entire canon. I was late aboard and saw bits and pieces of some but only a few start to finish.

You know, I've never actually sat and read all the books all the way through. I got lazy at the end and never went back an finished them. When I finish Armada, I think I'm going to read the entire series.

I agree IMO. It kind of annoyed me that after everything he had been through that Harry was still just average and defeated one of the most powerful wizards of all time through unbelievable amounts of help and luck and it's like that for almost every hero series these days.

I did love the Horcrux stuff, but still, Harry seemed nerfed as hell. He did some rare bits of magic, but nothing that would actually help him if he had to face a wizard one on one.

Excuse me if I'm wrong it's been awhile but didn't dumbledore and snape have an alliance to protect harry and wasn't snape the one that actually killed dumbledore instead of malfroy when he chickened out.

Dumbledore was going to die regardless due to wearing the ring. Snape tells him as much. Snape was put under the unbreakable vow by Bellatrix with mrs. Malfoy. Either way, Snape was going to kill Dumbledore if Malfoy didnt. Dumbledore wanted to protect Malfoy from that lifestyle, so he made Snape promise to do it, as it had 3 important pieces.1) Malfoy would not become a killer. 2)Snape kept his double agent role. 3) Dumbledore was going to die anywy.

This is actually a very good point I've never thought of it that way

Harry Potter is lolworthy. Those books/movies are for kids and teenage girls.

Without Harry getting the stone out of the mirror, Voldemort could have never gotten it. It was perfectly hidden until Harry fricked it up...
