Superhero movies are as simple as beer commercials to do well, yet the entertainment and marketing industries continually frick it up.
Likable hero who can drop witty one-liners and looks like he spent time in a gym
Cool costume (this can't be stated enough)
Sidekick who is either charming in his/her own right or sets up the hero to be funny
Female hero has a sexy/skintight outfit that appeals to young men (hiring an actress who has never uttered the words "patriarchy" or "oppressed" a must)
If hero doesn't have powers then cool gadgets
A badass villain (second most important ingredient)
An intelligent, coherent plot. We're not making history here, just entertainment
That's about it. It's not rocket surgery.

I think we are about 1/6 here, if that.

I’ve read reviews from a bunch of people and they’re mixed, some love it, some hate it,
A lot of them saying they loved it are lying.
They would rather die than admit a bunch of old white men were right about something, or ANYTHING for that matter.

How long after the Ghostbusters remake did it take for people to admit it was a shite film? After the release of Ghostbusters Afterlife?

I think it's more that they need these films to do well so their sites continue to get traffic. The comic book boom created a huge industry of "geek" sites. All these sites are in danger if the comic book genre disappears.

Do yourself a favor and look at your local theater’s presales. The theaters are practically empty. This is going to be a horrible opening.

I really think it’s partly to blame that you need to watch so much material beforehand to know who these people are
You can’t just jump in on a Friday night and say oh wow a new captain marvel movie ! Let’s check it out.. no you need to watch Disney plus shows to be up to speed

no. Nobody wants to watch this because it’s about a Muslim, black girl and Brie Larson

Being intersectionally divisive is just a crazy way to PROMOTE a film.
-frick white men!!!!
-***white men don't go see your movie***
-My movie did poorly because of the patriarchy!!!
She knew she fricked up, that is why she did the late night circuit with her titties hanging out.
I am a fan of Monica Rambeau and the girl playing Ms Marvel.
I will be watching it on Friday with my kids

Yes. It's totally insane that someone might have an opinion that differs from the one you decided to have without seeing the film.

No, that's totally sane.
The people saying they love this movie are lying and insane, however.

Box office pro says 42 mil OW. Just wow
At some point maybe it becomes hipster cool to go see it? Sort of a Howard the Duck thing?
Dunno. That thinking didn't catch fire with the Flash.
53-56% on RT (at this point) doesn't seem good considering how massaged those numbers are.

Looks like some late reviews have bumped it slightly into fresh territory on RT.
Although I think it’s pretty funny “short runtime” is listed as a positive aspect in both the positive AND negative reviews, but for totally different reasons.

Good for exhibitors and Disney who want to get more showings in.
Bad for anyone who is paying full freight to see this train wreck instead of waiting for D+.
Which brings up another point IMHO… the short turnaround time between theatrical release and appearing on D+ cannibalizes their box office if the film is seen as mediocre or worse.
People will still go see Infinity Wars or End Game on the big screen because it is a payoff to the whole series and a big spectacle.
A lower quality entry (Thor Dark World, Eternals, etc)? They can wait for video.

This is true to an extent of the total box office, but no one who was going to see it opening weekend is going to wait for it on D+.
