Better hope not.

Civilization is built on infrastructure.

Females aren't capable of building or maintaining that infrastructure.

That will be a total disaster.

Disney/Marvel will be forced to pause and do a total course correct

Warner Bros. ' latest superhero film hauled in just $55 million during its first three-day weekend, a far cry from the $75 million to $85 million industry experts had expected.

This one looks to be exactly the same. A big issue is the trades reporting these silly figures despite presales being weak. They definitely try and help out the studios

Will be an ugly weekend at the Hollywood box office as #TheMarvels  set to be the first FLOP for the MCU. Dismal pre-sales and low confidence in content. The overseas weekend looks like will be around $65M.

LINK

Add that to around 50 mil for domestic and you have a grand total of $115 OW. Yikes!

The Marvel franchise is now headed in the same direction as Star Wars.

Two of the biggest entertainment IPs in the world and Disney is now tanking both of them. It's actually kind of impressive.

It's Star Wars/Marvel burnout. They just put out too much from these franchises. Obviously Disney had too, to recoup the money they bought the two franchises for. They see it as a money maker. They don't care that the movies/shows are subpar.

If it were only that simple.

It's PART of the equation, but the bad product coupled with a hostile, holier-than-thou attitude toward their fanbase is equally to blame.

Alienating consumers is a hell of a way to run a business.

It's not just Disney, but I see them as the biggest offender. Something changed over the last 15 or 20 years and studios stopped making movies the fans want and started making movies they want, frequently to push a message.

Star Wars may be the best example of this. Kathleen Kennedy has been vocal that she doesn't care what the fans want or think. She has her personal vision of what Star Wars should be, and that's what it is.

In the podcast from the Watch (which was referenced in this thread or whatever other melty Marvel thread du jour was around this week), they made a good point that Marvel assumed its fans were ready to jump from more traditional comic settings into a complicated multiverse, and that seems to be a major miscalculation.

Everything planned, schemed, or executed since the production of Endgame has just been a pretty big failure (I have not seen GOTG3 admittedly but I've heard it was good).

Bad characters, bad luck (Boseman's death, primarily), bad story choices, over saturation, bad qualify of most output, etc. It's just all bad.

Nope. Disney agrees with you though, and that's why they won't be able to fix it.

No, the miscalculation is the idea that the fans wanted female characters to usurp every male character, even in movies that are meant to be about the male characters. Or that anyone wants to watch gay or trans characters in anything at all.

They should have listened to Ike Perlmutter. The MCU started going completely belly-up the day they started pushing him out.

I hope he successfully affects some change. LINK

Some updates on box office.... #TheMarvels continues to sell terribly and is falling further behind similar comps. $45m-$52m seems like the range for it. On the other hand, @TheHungerGames selling very well and above The Marvels at the same point. $50m+ opening should happen.

International will do 60-70. So around 110-120 OW. I think the Flash is a good comp. That film finished at 270 WW.

The embargo is lifting shortly. This is really late for reviews so I wonder if Disney is expecting a bloodbath

If a Disney shill like Harloff hates it, the movie really does suck
