Some of us have real jobs, and thus don't go to midnight viewings in the middle of the week.

Ebert's review is hilarious. He gave it 1 star (he gave the first one 3 stars). Some snippets:

quote:

"Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen" is a horrible experience of unbearable length, briefly punctuated by three or four amusing moments. One of these involves a dog-like robot humping the leg of the heroine. Such are the meager joys. If you want to save yourself the ticket price, go into the kitchen, cue up a male choir singing the music of hell, and get a kid to start banging pots and pans together. Then close your eyes and use your imagination.

quote:

The movie has been signed by Michael Bay. This is the same man who directed "The Rock" in 1996. Now he has made "Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen." Faust made a better deal. This isn't a film so much as a toy tie-in.

quote:

Aware that this movie opened in England seven hours before Chicago time and the morning papers would be on the streets, after writing the above I looked up the first reviews as a reality check. I was reassured: "Like watching paint dry while getting hit over the head with a frying pan!" (Bradshaw, Guardian); "Sums up everything that is most tedious, crass and despicable about modern Hollywood!" (Tookey, Daily Mail); "A giant, lumbering idiot of a movie!" (Edwards, Daily Mirror).

According to a friend of mine in the movie industry, someone referred to it as "Michael Bey's Minstrel Show."

OUCH.

I can't wait. This re-assures me that it's going to be awesome.

Why? Considering the source material and the directer, the first Transformers movie actually got decent reviews.

Is he saying The Rock was a 1 star movie as well? Hell, I can't wait to see this movie either if he is comparing the two. The Rock is a phenomenal action movie.

His point is that The Rock was awesome, while this, apparently, is not.

The first one got mixed reviews from the people I know. Some really liked it and some thought it wasn't bad, but nothing special. I thought the first one was decent, but it's not one of my favorites. I loved The Rock.

I liked the first one, but I read some spoilers of this new one from a guy who saw it early on the Rotten Tomatoes forum and it sounds pretty tardtastic.

I don't give a frick what critics say for the two reasons listed below:

1> I don't expect an alien robot movie to have depth or change my outlook on life, that is unless Starscream breaks out a transformer guitar and performs Lee Greenwoods Greatest Hits

2> Devastator

just looks like Bay just upped the ante on the action in this sequel if that's what you call better.

Spoilers (well not really but i dont wanna hear anybody whine)

basically bay just upped the ante on kiddy humor, chose not to show the action from further out (so it's still impossible to follow), gave devastator testicles (i shite you not), added a wap mini-decepticon, and two unbelievably annoying sidekick autobots who get more screen time than optimus prime or bumblebee....CAN'T WAIT!
