What an amazing slide from the first season to the second.

The first season was some of the best TV I've seen. The second season was not even close to as good.

It became 24 in the second season and not in a good way. 24 was an entertaining show but it had the maddening tendency to have the characters do things completely illogical that no one would do in a million years for no other reason than to get the storyline where the writers needed it to be.

That's what screwed up Homeland in season 2. There were plot holes that you could drop an aircraft carrier into that only existed because the writers couldn't get from A to C without a ridiculous B.

I'll probably give season 3 a chance but it was such a let down going from season 1 to 2.

A lot of transitioning, but I have to mostly agree with your assessment. One season to redeem itself, or I'm on to other, better things.

Spoilers:

Once that Keri saw that video early in the season they had to stretch the imagination to make you believe she would still fall for Brody, and the idea that you could have 2 season finales where she's questioning whether Brodie was behind the terrorist plot is absurd.

An annoying example is having Saul flown out to a ship to watch Nazeer's body get dumped into the ocean which made no sense but was just a lame reason to not have him at the Langley bombing. That's a minor one but fresh on my mind.

Nothing so far is completely "absurd" enough to support the OP's missive. I'm interested to hear this list of things that are so unbelievable so many people say are wrong with season 2, but I have yet to see anyone actually write. So as Harry Caray would say (slurring) "LET ME HEAR YA, A ONE, AND A TWO AND A ..."

Season 2 is better. Critics and fans rate it higher than season 1. Check the sites

Everywhere but here, that's why I want to hear their reasons instead of just saying it had so many holes in the plots. I'd like to hear these "giant" holes.

Season 2 starts off with a bang and never let's up. I enjoyed the new guy who was working for Estes and the whole Gettysburg storyline.

Season 1 set the bar so damn high.

Hard to match it, IMO.

This. After all the shite I heard here about how the second season is worse than the first I started the show fully prepared to be disappointed. When I found the second season to actually be more entertaining I was surprised. So I guess I have this board to thank for that

I am willing to make allowances for plot holes if the show at least makes an effort to make it semi believable (or at least not completely impossible).Homeland has not yet dipped into 24 territory so I am ok with it as long as it is entertaining and it is absolutely that

Spoiler

Me thinks Saul knew that the bombing was going down, might have planned it himself...he's my top candidate for the mole right now

The prayer he was making amongst the bodies in the last minute of the S2 finale was in Yiddish. I wonder what kind of prayer it was.

Interesting.

How about Carrie disappearing after the bombing and then showing up later like nothing happened?

That was the very last scene. How is that a hole? We don't even have a clue how that is going to play out in season 3.

Still waiting.

She just walks through every agent that still had to be there and went directly to Saul without being stopped and questioned on her whereabouts?

Everybody is pretty much dead. Any new "agents" there would let her see Saul because he's pretty much in charge now and she's always been number one in his mind. I don't see that as much of a stretch.
