The Walking Dead is awesome and it's no more flawed then Breaking Bad is. Yeah I said it...Breaking Bad is flawed.

I agree. I've tried watching it, but it is just boring to me.

Wait until "The Moat" episode then you'll be hooked.

I like TWD, but can see why some people don't like it. To each their own.

I agree 110% with everything you have said.

Do people really not see how much better the show could be? It's like everyone is just okay with the show moving at a snails pace and them playing farm all damn day long and talking about how mean shane is.

It is perfectly okay if they want to sit on the farm all day but by god establish likable characters and have good dialogue.

With that said, I dont have shite to do sunday nights and with on demand there is no reason for me to not watch it at some point.

ETA If you say something negative about the show you automatically get accused of not understanding that the show isnt about non-stop action and killing zombies. Give me a break, I'm painfully aware of what the show is about. I love mad men and that show has no action.

Where has anyone been accused of anything? Baloo said he didn't agree with those who complain about the pacing, but didn't accuse anyone of anything.

I know what you mean--I don't feel invested in the characters at all but do like Daryl and Rick.

It's really silly to have Dale accusing Shane of Otis's death, I know what Shane did and I know he caused his death but how on earth would anybody that wasn't there even have an inkling of what happened? That to me is really absurd.

the first season was bearable, i watched it knowing that it was bad but i was able to maintain my "temporary suspension of disbelief of suckyness," but the second season didnt even clear the runway with me. couldnt even sit through the first fricking episode of that horrendous season 2 shite.

I don't find it absurd

I do think it is inconsistent at times and at other times it wants to delve into deeper waters but generally skips across the surface.

It seems like at times they try and follow the original comic book ideas and then other times they just lose their way.

This is completely true. Any complaint about the slow pace is met with "You just don't understand character-driven drama. Go watch Spike!" I'm entirely on board with a slower paced, character driven show. I love Mad Men, and it's because I have an attachment to most of the characters and care how their lives go.

The writers on Walking Dead have made me truly despise each character, and all I wish is for their gory death by the hands of zombies. Unfortunately, that can never happen because zombies get about a minute of screen time per week.

I understand it's not supposed to be an action show about killing zombies, but the first couple episodes had a healthy mix of engaging action and 15 minute discussions about the nature of mankind. Now the show has been reduced to people arguing while staring at each other. And sometimes oh yeah there's a zombie. Oh well, back to arguing.

ya but it's the closest thing to perfection on tv. I appreciate bb more because it actually seems to develop a whole season at once rather than make stuff up as it goes along.

Copy and pasted from the official thread after I said I thought the first 45 minutes was painfully slow:

"For the hundreth time, they have stated ivermectin and over that this show is not about action or zombies. It's about how people change and develop in an end of the world situation. This show is about the people, not the zombies. "

ETA earlier in the thread after someone said how slow it was moving:

"You people are fricking morons.

Bang bang. Bombs and titties and gore

Yay America. "

I never watched a single episode. Not a zombie guy. I'm older so maybe that has something to do with it. Zombie movies/TV shows seem like a fad to me. Why are zombies O.K. but vampires get made fun of?

OP, thanks for starting another Walking Dead thread. The "absurd" part is what got me to click on it.

Actually, what you said was:

The first 45 minutes of this episode was some of the worst tv I have ever watched.

It's amazing you got antagonistic replies based upon your constructive criticism of the show. How did that happen, blameless victim?

I think its a deeply flawed show that is still enjoyable to watch. I find the "MORE ACTION!" critics to be completely off base. I actually think in retrospect, the pacing problems aren't that bad. Especially because it is being commented on by the characters themselves. I like that they are being confronted by their bad decision and haunted by the failure of what was clearly a wild goose chase.

I don't agree with those who think the show is flawless and I don't agree with those who despise the show. I rather like the slow build, as a results in great moments. the last 10 minutes of the last episode was simpyl terrific television, and it required that slow build. The last season ended on a great moment, built up over 8 episodes. You could feel the character's frustration because you were frustrated as well, and you identified with his "ENOUGH!" speech.

Dialogue and character are the biggest problems, though Herschel is rapidly becoming a fascinating character study. Shane already is. Daryl goes back and forth, but he's great at being the voice of the audience. It's a show that also has flashes of greatness, which keep me coming back.

I thought the last episode was fricking greatness.

Dale has turned into a bitch, but Daryl and Shane are developing really well.

I think the end marks a turning point for Rick.

Might as well say "" "ALL HORROR MOVIES" are absurd thread""

"Don't go in there!" But they always do.
"Don't drop that knife after you killed Mike Myers" But she did.
"Don't split the group up" But, of course...

It's fun, it's GREAT fun, and I can overlook all those flaws.

Oh yeah, and why, in an advanced Star War-ian civilization, does blaster fire travel about a million times slower than a bullet?
