Daniel Craig, Clive Owen, Tom Hardy, Christian Bale, Gerard Butler, half the cast of Game of Thrones...

ETA: and yeah, I know there's a mixed bag of Irish and Welsh in there, but they're all from the British Isles...the accents are all basically the same.

It would be much more interesting if Shane left the group and it became his show. It's not a terrible show but it suffers from some very bad writing and empty drama that borders on self-parody.

I usually just watch the final 15 minutes cause I can surmise what happened the previous 30.

The argument always seemse to go "I think the show has poor pacing... and by poor pacing, I mean bad characters." That's just illogical. Just say poor characters if that's what you mean.

I know I am not the only one in this thread, but my argument from the beginning was that it was all three. @ Page 3 in my first post: "bad characters + poor dialogue + drawn out" You say the pacing is fine or has been fixed by a big payoff; well, that is too bad because I didn't make it to the payoff. But, even if the pacing is fine or has been corrected, it still has bad characters and poor dialogue. Which are pretty big problems for a character driven show.

Cokes and Road want to argue that the characters are good characters. And, it is perfectly fine to make that argument, but we will just have to disagree. Someone said "likable" and that was probably a poor choice, even though it would be nice to have a character or two that we like. Hate to use such an awesome show as an example [but BSG is a show that nailed the character driven, apocalyptic scenario], but BSG's Baltar was one of the most unlikable characters ever in the beginning of the series, but he was a great character.

Lastly, I will leave you with the thoughts of hiltacular as he near perfectly summed up my feelings and points out one of the major problems with "the characters":
quote:

I almost wish the show had taken a "Lost" type approach and shown flashbacks from the pre-apocalyptic world to give us an idea of why the characters are who they are which would ultimately lead to us caring about them more.

Instead we were given random people which we know nothing about and forced to learn about them through there actions (which for the most part have been terrible decisions) and how they evolve.

Let's take Lori for example, one of the major characters: The ONLY thing we know about her is that she "cheated" on Rick and repeatedly does dumb things. What about that should make us like/care about her? I personally hope a gang of ravenous zombies picks her off the road and ends her storyline.

Then we have the Sophia storyline (which we have spent an entire season on). We knew NOTHING about her. The storyline itself is okay (a missing girl can be interesting) if we had reason to care about the girl herself. Instead we are forced to watch characters we dont like chase after a girl we know nothing about.

I'm done venting, at this point were all just going in circles.*

*I'm not venting because I don't really care either way about the show just expressing my opinion as to why I quit watching; however, I do agree that we are going in circles. Some people like the show, great. Others not so much, and others are skeptical and on the edge about it.

Didn't read the whole thread but the writing is lazy and predictable and Rick's "Oh woe is me, I should have done more" crap is getting old.

Did the stupid bitch think they were in town drinking beer when she went after them?

Having said all that, I'll still watch with morbid curiosity.

I didn't read the whole thread but here's a question we've had since just finishing Season 1 on Netflix:

Rick was in the hospital unconscious without power for a max of 2, 3 or 4 days. So he wakes up, hangs with the black guy and son for a couple days right? So say a week total since his wife Lori saw him last.

Even if Lori thinks Rick is dead, she can't keep it in her pants for longer than a week after knowing her husband has died?

I would hope that if I died my wife isn't banging dudes less than 2 weeks later. Geesh.

I believe he was in the coma for quite a while before the zombie apocalypse happened and Shane was taking care of them etc. that whole time also.

I understand the coma aspect but she says time and time again that she was getting it on because she thought Rick was dead......not because he was in a coma.

She knew he was dead for only about a week tops. Power went out with Shane there at the hospital.....humans can't go without water longer than a few days. So it seems to be that Lori thought Rick was really dead for about a week and was already banging Shane.

We don't know how long Rick was parading around town with his friend/rehabilitating and travelling towards Atlanta after he woke from his coma.

He was supposed to be dead. No power = no pulse.

They made the time with his friend and son seem like a few days, tops. He was still wearing the bandage so it certainly wasn't months. Say it was two weeks which is a big time stretch cause we just watched the episodes and there's no way.

She thought he was dead, I get it. But she thought he was dead for a few weeks tops. She's banging Shane thinking her husband has been dead for 3 weeks? We just watched the episodes it its supposed to be a few days, not weeks, total.

Well however much time had passed it was enough for the entire country to go to shite. I feel like that would take at least two months for America to descend into the absolute chaos that it did. But still, I never thought of that either. Husband just died? World ending? Yeah... time to bone.

Just another reason to hate her character.

They were still married, but they were having a lot of problems before the ZA. Plus, Shane did save her and her son's life as the world was ending...I think it was more of "I'm lonely, my husband's gone, the world is ending, so yeah I guess I'll bang you, you did save me from certain death" sex.

I tried to like the show but couldn't because I'm pretty tired of zombie stuff. If this show had come out about 5 years ago before zombies became over saturated, maybe I would have enjoyed it more.

Also, what's the point in pointing out the absurdity? Let people enjoy a show they are excited about. There are plenty of posts on this board for movies and TV shows that I find absurd, but there's no point in trying to make those fans feel stupid for enjoying them. Different strokes for different folks... or some shite like that.

It is the consensus that he laid in the bed for at least a week after TSHTF, was in a coma for a few months. It doesn't really say how long he hung out with Morgan, but one would assume it was for more than a few days, can't just bounce back after being in a coma for a few months.

The show really didn't do a good job of giving you a timeline, most likely on purpose.

As far as Lori banging Shane...i'm of the opinion it was going on before he got shot, nothing to base that on, but i think that'll come out eventually.

We wondered and thought the same thing......that was really the only explanation I had for the quick banging.

But when Rick showed back up and she was mad at Shane for saying he was dead when he really wasn't, they made it seem like the banging only started once she thought he was dead.

By the way, we bought Season 2 from AppleTV iTunes last night and can't stop watching.
