Fix You, FTMFW.

I'm still waiting to see/hear what all the Grimmie love is about (and not on YouTube). Bria needs a little work/restraint, but I love her energy. Someone probably mentioned Bria should go to her knees while singing and she said "F that". Oh, I almost forgot, Queen Irritator is not judging this season.

Then ignore my last post...I'll definitely allow that shite.

Word. Though feel free to "steal" it. I stole "Ursher" from Ludacris anyway.

True. Was drawing a blank when I typed that.

First time I heard that song was in a slideshow of all kinds of pics of NOLA after Katrina. Really helped the song get to another level I think. I'm a fan. And then when Javier Colon belted that shite in season one, I liked it even more.

Finally caught up... has this season has been incredibly mediocre or is it just me?

Except for Carson, who has been as terrible as ever. And the long drawn out production, which is almost enough to make me quit watching altogether until the live shows. And now there are more battle rounds? What the frick NBC?

Honestly only a few contestants stand out at all, good or bad. Last season at least there were Nic and Kat that stood out for being terrible, I feel like even that has been culled out this season and it's just a gelatinous blob of blah.

That said, I think the young black girl with the stripper stage name has a great shot at winning it. She's not my favorite, but she fits the mold.

This season seems odd to me as well, but in that the standouts seem to be EXTREME standouts while everyone else just seems to be mediocre fodder.

I dunno... the three I remember the most from blind auditions were all day 1 people: Dawn & Hawkes, Christina Grimmie, and Bria.

Bria was just okay in her battle I thought, too much unnecessary screaming that just didn't work for me.

Dawn & Hawkes were also just okay, nothing stood out about their battle except that they were all three good, but would have to engage the viewer more in the future.

And then Christina didn't even get a feature battle, which probably means she's going to be cut next week.

Maybe I'm missing some stand-outs? No one else stands out in my mind as of now.

Since we haven't seen all the first battles, I'm hoping they've held back some of the wow singers. So far, it hasn't been great.

Other than the ones they glossed over, we have seen all of the first battles. In the past, if they glossed over a battle or a blind audition, it's because the person didn't make it much further.

Maybe she is, maybe she isn't, but some posters were certain she would win this season after her audition and YouTube presence. She doesn't do much for me, decidedly in the average category of the contestants.

Just finished off some "berled" crawfish as a reward for my exercising today, washed it down with an Abita Strawberry and am ready for some Voice goodness :)

Audra vs. Megan: So... wait. They choose from one of 3 songs? From the way they promoted this it seemed like they could choose any song. I guess it would take forever if they had to narrow a choice from such a wide selection. Their first rehearsal isn't really impressing me. Maybe it's the song choice but then again there didn't seem to be any "winner" songs in that list.

Mmmmm... Abita...

Is "Ush" trying to channel his inner Davey Crockett? Seriously, what the frick? Now that I am temporarily not distracted by "Ush"'s headgear, Audra has immense power and good control but Megan has the better tone, she seems to have better control in the power areas and she was much more into the song than Audra. I would go with Megan, I think "Ush"'s headgear is not only sucking the common sense out of "Ush" but leached some from "Shak" as well. Blake picked Audra, I guess they all saw something more than I did.

Cierra vs. TJ: Interesting song choices. I would have liked to hear "What Becomes of the Broken-Hearted" from those two, but oh well. "Get Here" should be good for some good power spots and some soul movements. The practices seem to indicate this as well.

TJ's first lines... I was expecting more from him, Cierra though made sure to make the most of her spots. The two together did extremely well, especially considering the difficulty of their blended parts. TJ shined well in his improv at the end but the show is called The Voice, not The Hype Man. I have to give this one to Cierra because she never let an opportunity pass but TJ seemed to miss one or two.

AN EWOK IS EATING "USH"'S HEAD!! SOMEONE SAV... nevermind, that's just his hat.

TJ?? Really!?! Uhm... okay.

Jake vs. Tess: I feel a country song coming... I think Jake was about to pop a woodie watching Tess' previous performance. She looks a lot like an ex-g/f of mine, so I can't blame him on that ;).

Jake is really impressing me, I am hearing things in his voice I didn't realize he had. I would like to hear him growl out some Joe Cocker. He and Tess are both REALLY into this song and although their voices are nothing alike they are extremely complimentary for this song. Damned good performance by both of them. I might give it to Jake but only because he surprised me with his voice. That grit was impressive. There is no winning or losing choice on this one. A steal should be happening on this one but it probably won't. fricking cliffhanger commercial breaks, thank God for DVR... Blake goes with Jake, Blake had no losing choice here.

All 3 steals lit up! If that's not a tribute to how well she did, nothing is. Since "Ush" ditched her, if I were her I would ignore "Ush" and "Ush"'s hat and go with Adam or "Shak".

"Shak"... Shut the frick up, Carson.

"Shak" with an "Ush" burn! Nice. Maybe it'll burn that giant rat off his head. A rare win for "Shak". Interesting.

Chistina vs. Sam: I have a feeling this is going to be a good competition and they haven't even picked a song yet. Sam sounded like shite the first practice, Christina sounded... passable. This ain't Youtube, honey. There are no edits here. Still, Christina's error seems easier to fix while Sam seems like she is singing too low for the song.

Damned good match. I am a bit of a mark for Christina but Sam did well. I didn't really care as much for Sam's rapid-fire parts. Christina sounded great. They both have good presence on stage but while Sam's was in and out, Christina's presence never seemed to waver and while she was all over the stage she never missed a note nor her timing. I would go with Christina. Good call, Adam. I finally got one right tonight, sheesh!

Josh vs Patrick: Wow, Patrick's last performance was really bad.

The visual of their reactions to first seeing Chris Martin and the voice-over do not match. I am buying more and more into the theory that most of the time the contestants are "who is that?" when they first meet them. Afterwards there has to be some assistant backstage telling them they should be excited about that person and why. Just once I would like to hear a truthful "Oh, I have no idea who that person is but they gave some great advice".

Good job, Carson. Why not just call them "Adam's Sloppy Seconds"?

Josh seems like someone working hard to create a career in music, Patrick comes across to me as some drunk frat guy doing this as a lark but doing amazingly well through latent talent and luck. Good job by both, but I think Patrick had too much gravel at times. I think I would pick Josh on this one.

On a different note, my dog is having some sort of growling, semi-barking nightmare. I think she was growling back at Patrick.

Jesus! Did they REALLY need to do a close-up of Carson's face while telling "Shak" to hurry the frick up? Now *I'm* going to be the one having nightmares. Dammit, Carson.

"Shak" went with Patrick. I blame Carson.

Delvin vs. Josh (how weird would it have been to have all 3 Josh's in the final 4?): I didn't recognize Delvin with normal hair. Maybe that will help him stay on note. Going with Stevie Wonder, eh? I was kind of hoping for Righteous Bros. This one has plenty of great moments though.

Jeebus! Josh sounded like a beast in the 2nd practice. This could be a really good performance.

Delvin sounded like there may have been a split second of off-key-ness in his first line. Delvin isn't bad but Josh is just insane. Josh just out-sang and out-souled Delvin on this one. And they did the walk-off after the performance. Nice!

My pick is Josh by a mile (even though he is suffering from a severe case of neckbeard). Lots of love for Delvin tonight, I blame "Ush"'s hat. If Delvin wins this, Josh deserves to get stolen.

Delvin? Really? Getthafrickouttahere.

Good call, "Ush" and "Ush"'s hat.

Yeah, what was up with Ursh?

It was an okay night. I'm looking forward to the battle tonight that they've used to bait us. It better live up to the hype.

Faves of the night were:
1) Tess
1a) Jake W.
3) Josh K.
4) Patrick
The rest. Blake should have teamed Tess up against Ryan and kept her, what he did was pretty dumb as the little I have heard from Ryan was not very impressive.

So far in my book Usher and Blake have the strongest teams. I think Adam messed up big time by pairing 2 of his strongest people together he not only lost one of them but provided his competition a very talented singer. Adam also wasted a steal in my opinion, I don't think the guy he stole tonight will go far in the competition.

Some solid battles but the wife and I agree that the knockout format of each person singing their own song was better than this. Oh well.

Last night's episode (because I was too busy raiding to watch it):

The Night of "Ush"'s freaky hat, Round 2!

Biff vs. Sisaundra: Biff has lots of fun when he's on stage and he has a decent voice, but Sissaundra is a fricking MACHINE! I loves me some James Brown so I am giddy they are doing Man's World.

First practice, Biff sounds flat when he was singing "Maaaan" at the beginning.

I much rather the contestants meeting with their families before the match than that stiff, bullshite with the coaches. I can't help but wonder if someone in power there is reading these posts. If so, gimme money for consulting!

Both artists are having great performances ESPECIALLY at the end but DAYYYYYYYYYYYYYYUM how does Sisaundra hold those power notes for so damned long!?! She has to have like a 3rd lung or something. No matter how good Biff was on that song but there's just no way in hell he can beat that. At all. I agree with Adam and "Shak" on Sisaundra: her register is SICK and I think she may actually be from another world. This song was #SisaundrasWorld, dammit.

It's too bad Adam couldn't swap Delvin out for Biff, I think he's the better talent.

Ddendyl vs. Deja: Dendil needs to open her mouth more when she sings. It's too bad "Shak" wouldn't let Ddendyl play her piano on this one. Deja has the better tone to me, but I don't know if she's really ready for this level yet.

Deja had a couple of slightly off notes around the middle of her first line, I think it may be nerves. Good performance by both, I'm torn. I don't care for Ddendyl's strange throaty sound/delivery nearly as much as I like Deja's beautiful, pure tone, but Ddendyl has a much better presence on the stage and the experience to really get into the song (much better than Deja).

Deja wins, I think that was a good call.

Snippets;dc (don't care).

Morgan vs. Stevie Jo: Morgan sounds a bit too whispery and gravelly for me, like he can't sing without it. Stevie Jo continues to surprise me.

Stevie was on point with his notes at the beginning, Morgan was a little shaky. When Morgan gets rolling he's good but Stevie Jo was on the ball during the entire song and took many more chances. Morgan had a really good spot that surprised even "Ush", "Ush"'s hat & Blake. He needed more moments like that for me to give it to him though. I think it's a situation where they both pushed themselves, I just think Stevie Jo is a bit rather down the road than Morgan. "Ush" and "Ush"'s hat seem to agree.

Good job on playing with the steal, Adam.

Finally caught up on both episodes last night.

Monday:

First and foremost, I want to slap that fricking hat off of Ursher's head. You're not CeeLo, and that's a good thing. Idiot.

Audra/Megan. Audra is good. I don't normally dig short hair and crazy tattoos, but megan looks hot as frick. Both did well, but this was Audra IMO. Off chance that Megan will get stolen........nope, no steal.

Cierra/TJ. Weirdly enough, I think Cierra won this particular battle, but TJ is better. TJ, good call.

Jake/Tess. It really is pretty amazing to me how far Jake has come. They sound REALLY good together. This is a close battle, but I think Jake takes it. But no matter who loses, they should get stolen. BOOM..Tess stolen.

Also, isn't this now the second time that the person Jake beat has gotten stolen? That's a testament to how good he really is.

Carson: "Shak." Ugh. Go frick yourself, douche.

Christina/Sam. Both sound pretty good. Even though Sam does that stupid weird pronunciation thing sometimes, I think she sounded better. But Adam goes with Christina...I guess a built-in fan base can't hurt.

Josh/Patrick. "Run To You" is a terrible song for a competition like this IMO. Doesn't lend itself to many chances to showcase your voice, and if you do try to, it makes the song sound weird since it's so mellow/low. Neither one is shining, but I like Patrick better, so I'd go with him. Good choice.

Hobbit Josh/Delvin. Three GREAT song choices for them to choose from. I was really hoping for Righteous Brothers, but you can't go wrong with a little Stevie Wonder though. I am actually pumped for this battle, and I love how pretty much the first rehearsal had them stage-ready...they are both good. Before it even starts I think the loser will get stolen. Josh has such a fricking AWESOME sound to his voice, man. This is one of the best battles the show has ever seen IMO...they are both laying it all out there and both sound great. I think Josh stays and Delvin gets stolen......nope. Delvin, wow. Can't believe Adam chose him. Ursh steals Josh immediately, which is obviously a good call..he's an incredible singer. I can't believe Blake didn't try to steal there. And even Usher said that he thought it'd be Josh and he was gonna steal Delvin, so it's cool that he ended up with who he thought the winner should've been anyway.

Solid show.

Tuesday:

Biff/Sassandra. I feel like Sassandra is WAY oversinging, but she's good though. I really like Biff, but I think Sassandra will win (and prolly should). I do still feel like she comes off as super fake, but whatever.

Ddendyl/Deja. Well, I automatically hope Ddendyl loses because of the way she's pronouncing shite stupidly. Neither one of them stood out IMO, and they both sounded very similar. I agree that they are really different, but it almost sounded like they were trying to sing the song exactly the same as the other person. As soon as Shakira said how unique Ddendyl sounded, I thought she'd pick her since she's so hung up on unique voices, but she went with Deja, and I thought that's who should've won.

Skimming through a secound-round battle? frick you, NBC.

Carson: "Shak" again. frick YOU, DOUCHE!

Morgan/Stevie Jo. I like the grit in Morgan's voice, but I think Stevie Jo is much better and more talented. As the performance went on, though, Morgan did some cool things. Stevie Jo was the clear winner IMO, but I'm kinda glad Adam stole Morgan. I'm interested to see what else he can do. And I love seeing the contestants backstage giving their interview when the other person gets stolen, and seeing how genuinely excited they get for that person. Stevie Jo was PUMPED that Morgan got stolen. That was cool to watch.

That's pretty much how I feel about this season so far... especially the second battle rounds. Battle rounds just suck in general, we didn't need two of them. How about letting these people sing what they feel suits them the best and then cutting the bottom out instead of matching them up?
