I agree, which is why I like the steal, because sometimes the coaches are idiots and pair two people that easily both deserve to stay.

The steals are great, very glad they were added in a few seasons ago. I think you could even continue to incorporate steals without doing battle rounds. Maybe all 12 from Team Blake perform individually, he selects 6 to move on, and the others get a chance to steal from the 6 he didn't pick. Just a thought... I just don't really like the battle round format with them trying to compete while singing the song together.

Agreed. Especially when one song heavily favors one singer's style over the other

It's Monday night, time for The Voice...

Dani vs. Clarissa: They should label this one the Battle of the Bleach-Blondes. Out of all the artists thus far only Christina Grimmie has seemed like she legitimately knew who Chris Martin is. I would rather they just do away with those fluff spots. I really didn't care for any of the songs "Shak" picked for this competition. Pink should be the best showcase for their voices out of the 3 they had to pick from, but I'm still not excited about it. One blonde had a problem with her power part. The other blonde had a problem with her power part. My thoughts on how this song would play out as just "meh" seems to be spot on. I think if I had to be held to picking one, it would be the blonde one. :p

"Shak" picked the blonde! I'm Nostra-fricking-damus! A round of drinks for everyone!

Both are decent singers but neither jump out to me as finalists so in reality it doesn't matter who won because I don't see them going much farther.

Dawn & Hawkes vs. Cat: Cat is all power, right now (prior to song choice or practice) I don't see her beating the duo's great sound. Adam picked 3 craptacular songs but all seemed to favor Danw & Hawkes. Last time they had "Stuck in the Middle", which was also right up their alley. Coincidence? I think not. Listening to the practice, it sounds like Cat is the lead singer and Dawn & Hawkes are back-ups. I hope it doesn't play out that way.

Cat seems to be overpowering the song. Whoa! That looked like a dick move with Cat moving around right in front of the duo. I guess technically it would be a count move though, but I digress... Dawn & Hawkes seemed to need a little injection of energy, but Cat needed to tone it down a bit (I am basing it off of the tone the band was playing at). As far as precision and tone, Dawn & Hawkes sounded best, but even though Cat was overpowering and had a few "iffy" moments, I think she deserves to win this round because Dawn & Hawkes are far too shtick-y. I can't see them doing anything beyond that laid-back rock/folk level. I hate seeing Dawn go though, she was CUTE! ;)

fricking "Music Box"... "Ush" Box isn't wearing his Dead Animal Hat Box, so maybe this time he will not go rogue-box and make such a bizarre choice. Oh yeah, "'Music Box' vs. Melissa:"... "Music Box"...

So we already know they are going with Girl on Fire, why go through watching this choice process? It should be a question until they announce it to their coach. I blame Carson for this frickup. I also blame Carson for the Visigoths sacking ancient Rome so... yeah, it's all his fault.

"Ush"... you may be only one of two people on the planet that wants to hear "Music Box" sing this song, the other being... "Music Box". And possibly her kid, "Hairy Box" (I lobbed that softball up, I hope someone takes a good swing ;) ). "Music Box" works in a restaurant? I wonder if it's Jack-in-the-Box? I'll be here all week, folks. Please remember to take care of the folks that take care of you by tipping your bartenders and waitresses, and try the veal!

The promo for the segment after the commercial... dear, sweet, God in Heaven, if Blake Shelton steals "Music Box" I'm not going to watch another fricking episode this season.

They both started off well but they both had issues not long after leaving out the gate. The second power-moment for "Music Box", she blew it pretty badly. Melissa didn't do all that well either and at that point it may have been hers to lose. I hate to say it but "Music Box" had the better sounding voice for this song, but Melissa had more moments that were good. Just like Adam said. LOL! Blake with "what would the fox say". Nice.

Melissa won, now if Blake will just not steal "Music Box"... *fingers crossed*! Sweet! "Music Box" is now "Gone Box". Ooooo, Bria is coming up... ewww sounded like crap just before the commercial.

Kaleigh vs. Ryan: Kaleigh is like the 2nd or 3rd person to mention being amazed at how much they learned about themselves from watching that playback. Do they not watch them ordinarily? That would seem to me to be the first thing I would want to do after a competition.

Easy already has male/female parts built in, but I think I would have liked hearing Drops of Jupiter better. The first practice started off well but the ending sucked giant, green donkey balls... gently.

As the practices roll on, I think I may have been wrong about the song choice and this might be a really good choice after all. I think Ryan should have started off the song a little more breathier or gruffer. The beginning of the song calls for something other than a pure tone, to me. Kaleigh did some really wonderful things with her first solo part, she also had some problems with the two little yodel things she tried. Toward the end when Ryan tried to really power it out there, his voice broke. It's a bit tight (twss), but I would have to give this one to Kaleigh. From what the coaches are saying though, it looks like Ryan may have won it. They both did well so either choice is a winner (and loser) for Blake. Looks like the decision was unanimous.

Brittnee vs. Jake: I'm always glad to hear coaches say to tone down the lyrical gymnastics. I fricking hate all the excessive crazy runs. Why the hell do the coaches say they want artists to push themselves out of their singing comfort zone but then pick 3 of the same genre of songs? The only one I think that hasn't done that tonight is Blake.

Both of them seemed to be having flatness issues, Jake seemed to have more of them though and in more noticeable points. How the frick did "Shak" not expect Jake to trill so much? He's done it in each song, Adam even had to pointedly coach him against doing that. I blame "Ush"'s hat. And Jake Beiber moves on. (something about his voice/style/something makes me think of Beiber)

Bria vs. Madeline: I look forward to hearing Bria's soft side. Madeline has great control when soft, but that one time she got loud during practice was terri-bad.

Wtf? Is Bria wearing a spandex & rhinestone crown?? "Ush" is apparently not teaching good headgear lessons. Bria sounds shaky when soft, she has lots of vibrato in that area and she seemed to try too many runs at beginning. Both of them in the first bridge area had bad parts but Madeline seems to have fewer of them unless/until Bria cranks up the power. Good ending though. I hate to say it but I think Madeline won that round, but I think Bria has more potential in the long run. It doesn't matter though because this is the last performance of the night and we know Blake makes a steal so... even though "Ush" kept Bria we know Blake must be stealing Madeline.

And that's the ballgame (for this round, at least).

I think Blake made a mistake on his team selection, the tattooed guy is pretty dang good. The young blonde girl shouldn't have made it, and Sasaundra should have moved on. Those were the only clear cut decisions. That said I feel that as humorous, genuine, and entertaining as Jake is I feel the tattooed guy is better and has a better shot at moving further in the competition.

I'm catching up on last night.

Nothing is jumping out at me an hour into it.

Dani was the right choice IMO.

I'm glad the duo is gone. And I'm glad Music Box is gone. Melissa Jiminez is hot as frick.

I fricking dig Usher on this show, man. He comes off so honest and I love that he seems like he cares, even about people not on his team.

I dug Jake's performance. He sounded really good and better than I thought he would.

Madeline/Bria. I'm expecting this to be pretty awesome. Bria is good but sounds kinda off on this one. Madeline is so smooth. She has a Danielle Bradbury feel to her IMO. I'd pick her. Loser should prolly get stolen. Good job, Blake.

Bout to watch tonight's episode.

Audra is good.

Ryan sounded good but I just don't like him for some reason. And he has one hair out of place and it's bugging the frick out of me.

I feel like Shakira thinks that everybody is the "biggest surprise of the show."

Madeline sounds good but seems like she's holding back a little. That may hurt her. Adam called her on it.

I love how Blake tells them all how tough his decision is gonna be.

Jake sounds good but his movements are completely awkward. I hope he makes it through.

Sassandra is awesome but man she tries to do too much cutesy shite and it gets annoying. But she's clearly a notch above most of the singers on the show. And she still comes off as so fake to me. Man, I almost hate her. But she's legit awesome though.

I'd keep Sassandra, Jake, and Madeline, but I think he'll pick Ryan, Audra, and Sassandra.

Well, Sassandra and Audra so far. Please take Jake.........

..............YES. I love that dude.

I liked Madeline even though she was clearly out of her league. And I never liked Ryan. Solid team for Blake.

Jake goes to the high school I graduated from. Everyone in the town is wearing team jake shirts and Facebook is blown up every night he is on. I hope he stays on for a long time and very proud he's made it this far, don't expect him to win though.

I have no problem with any of Blake's choices even though I would have chosen Ryan over Jake but a lot of that probably has to do that I really like that Shinedown song and I'm not the biggest fan of country music. Madeline held back and it cost her big, Blake would have picked her if she was close to equal with the other singers, he saw her as another Michelle B. Audra is hot IMO and I like her voice, I doubt she can win it but I think she can be top 5. Sassandra has a very powerful voice but she fricks around too much with her tone, especially going too low like the beginning of her song last night, also she is the polar opposite of Jake in which she comes across as phoney, that's probably because she has been in the business so long.

Maybe that's it, but every single time she talks or makes those "I'm gonna pretend like what you're saying is shocking to me and pretend that I'm not a good singer" faces it just grinds the frick out of my gears. It's like she's overly trying too hard to come off as humble, when she clearly isn't.

And I'm not a big country fan either, but Jake is one of my favorite contestants in a while because he just seems to humble and honored to be there.

I also liked Bria's reaction when she won. You could tell she knew she didn't do too great, and thought that she was gonna lose to Madeline.

I've got a feeling there are going to be a few singers that make the live rounds worse than the two Blake kicked off. I actually like Ryan and Madeline.

Yep that pisses me off also.

Sam is gone, Dawn & Hawkes are gone, now Madeline is gone... I think everyone I liked from early on is gone. At least we're finally to the good stuff though, everything between the blind auditions and the live shows is just annoying filler to me.

I'd have kept Madeline over Audra, but I think Blake did right keeping Sisaundra and Jake. She's obviously the best singer on his team and Jake is going to go far if he sticks to old school country and keeps his bumpkin charm working.

And I was legitimately laughing out loud at Blake's "what does the fox say?" joke from Monday night.

If Madeline had chosen a better song and performed it well she might still be there, thought she faltered a good bit last night and it was her first performance on team Blake. IMO, Blake kept Jake over Ryan due to Jake's popularity with the audience and judges. I like Jake, but he has more to improve than Blake's other remaining two. Ryan has a good voice and could have done multiple genres, but I doubt he was going to be a leading vote recipient. I don't think his song choice, or the production of it, did him any favors, either.

Playoffs time!

Audra McLaughlin singing "A Broken Wing": Started off well and slowly built on it. I'm not up on Country post-1990 so she is my introducyion to the song. After listening, I can't see how the vocals of the original could be any better (although she could have visually gotten into the song more).

Ryan Whyte Maloney singing "Second Chance": A couple of small, shaky spots at the beginning. STUPID great power moment towards the end.

Madilyn Pagie singing "Clarity": She started off well, but her first big power moment was a flop. To look at her, she looks like a deer caught in headlights throughout the first half of the song. She started losing that look somewhere around the middle and was able to tale decent advantage of her second power moment. If she had a little more experience and confidence she could have taken advantage of the power in her voice that the 2nd moment only gave us a hint of. As I was typing the end of this, Adam hit the nail squarely on the head.

Jake Worthington singing "Anywhere With You": Started off the song trying to get the crowd worked up, great idea but it would work better with a song that starts off with higher energy. I admire him doing it though, apparently at any instrumental points lol! He's really working it now, both the crowd AND the song. He had a couple of iffy moments at the very end of the song but overall was good. LOL! He even mentioned it himself. I'll be surprised if he's not one of Blake's picks (along with Sisaundra, probably... even though she hasn't performed yet).

Sisaundra Lews singing "New York State of Mind": I think she's staying in her lower register for too long. I know the song has range, but I think she was just a bit too low. She started hitting a stride after that and to end the song she laid it down then skull-fricked it into being her bitch. Well. fricking. Done.

My picks would be: Sisaundra, Jake & Audra (in that order)

Blake's picks: Sisaundra, Audra & Jake

Good call, Blake
