I thought it was awesome. Not as funny as last week, just as good. It was funny to see Jim owning Charles a little bit for a change (though I like seeing Jim look bad at times). I thought they did an awesome job with Michael. It was classic Office...Michael seems to be making bad decisions, but then comes through at the end. I like when they do shite like that because it shows that Michael is actually capable of deserving his job. His owning of David in the meeting was pure greatness.
I agree with this 100%.
While we were watching it I was just sitting there waiting for Michael to lose his shite and blow the negotiations. It's the uncomfortable feeling that the writers are so good at putting out there. I think the writers NAILED this episode. It may not have been the funniest episode, there was no "spin move" moment where I nearly fell out laughing, though the Korean lady getting into the van was very nice, but it was an awesome episode where you just feel like the "good guy won"

I thought it was awesome how Dwight was the one who looked like an idiot and therefore made Charles look like an idiot for recommending him.
I saw they shook hands, but nothing was signed. Anyone think DM will renig or somehow change the deal?

I LOVE how Michael puts his foot up on the desk and Jim just points at him to end the episode.

that's why the "my company is worth nothing..." speech is funny on so many levels. Watch pam and ryan's faces when he first goes into it...
My favorite line of the episode, michael defending ryan to david.
"I don't care if he killed his entire family, ryan is like a son to me..."
The kelly listening at the door thing made me laugh pretty hard. And the michael at the elevator trying not to say "we're broke" made me laugh too.
As for not seeing this coming? this is the only way this mini arc could've possibly be resolved. I had this pegged the second that Michael Scott started the MS Paper company. There was no way that this season was gonna end with him and DM apart and was a convenient way for them to bring Ryan back and give Pam the promotion she's been wanting.
One of my favorite parts of the arc was the adjusted Michael Scott Paper Company opening credits.

Dwight: Been there, done that.

I agree with most about how the writers did pretty well ending the Michael Scott Paper company crap and getting him back in the office, there was some smart writing and I liked how they made Charles look like an idiot.....Laughing funny though I did not find it...But to each his own, not knocking the show because it's one of my favorites, I just hope they get back on track.

Michael: "Well well well, how the turn tables..."

Perfectly awkward. I laughed a lot at that point. I also enjoyed Jim kinda saving the negotiations by discrediting Dwight with his "solve the case" bit in front of Charles.
And I have to say I liked the Michael Scott Paper Company mini-arc. It was a good way to, as someone said, bring Ryan back onto the show and get Pam out of reception but still in the Office. Also, it brought back the "idiot savant" in Michael. For most of the last two or so seasons we've just gotten a lot of idiot Michael and not the Michael deserving of his job.

WOW.
Forgot all about that.
That had me crying.

I don't think it's about getting back on track for the show. There's certainly going to be episodes that make you laugh harder than others, but The Office isn't just a comedy.
Some of my favorite episodes have had more of a dramatic theme. I loved last night's episode because of the drama that was created by the Michael Scott Paper Company nearly going under. Watching MS outnegotiate corporate was terrific, especially when you're expecting him to fall on his face, like so many times before.

watched some of season 1 last night and like someone said in these threads earlier, Michael was sooooo balding back then. Dude is seriously paying for some sort of hair implants up front.

Agreed. There's no track for it to get back on.
This has been a good season start to finish and was set up perfectly.
We've reached the end of the Michael is dissatisfied with DM arc started in the very beginning of the season when David transferred Holly.

Can anyone find the quote where Michael kills DW in the negotiations. I love how he ended it with "So as I see it I don't have to wait out dunder mifflin, I just have to wait out you." Priceless. I had to rewind my dvr to watch that part twice.

I think I actually yelled at my tv "Yes, frick you David Wallace!"
Posted on 4/24/09 at 11:02 am to Dignan
does anyone else not hate david wallace? I mean he seemed like a pretty cool CFO to me in his dealings with Jim and the interview process.
I think for the most part he's been extremely patient in dealing with Michael. I know most of the times I wouldn't have been.

David Wallace has actually been a pretty cool CFO.
But, he took away the Michael Scott's soulmate, so it was nice to see him get revenge.
