Has anyone seen an early screening yet? It's sitting at 100% with 60 reviews. I was not expecting that at all honestly since remakes of classics are tough to pull off.

I said before on here, I expect it to be very solid. I dont expect it to be the best movie of the year but I expect solid fundamentals that will be a joy to see:

Got tickets for Sunday at Movie Tavern. Looking forward to it. Never would have gone to see this movie but the reviews are so good and I think this will definitely be best on the big screen.

Figured it would be good with the names attached to it. Didn't think it would be upper 90s good but I'm glad it is.

It irks me that some critics are complaining it was too much CGI. What did they think they'd be watching??0

You'd be surprised by how many movies use CGI and I'm not even talking about your big budget popcorn flicks either. The Wolf of Wall Street was nominated for Best Picture and had a shitton of CGI in it.

Looks good though. I am a little worried about the CGI for Baloo because what I saw early of him was pretty iffy, but all of the other animals looked phenomenal. Will be catching it tomorrow.

No I wouldn't. Why would I be surprised? I know how movies are made and I know what I'm watching going into a movie.

I am so excited to see this movie. Plan on taking my kids and a few of their friends to see it in I-MAX this weekend.

Just got out of it. It is quite simply excellent and am now completely onboard for Disney's reimagining of their animated films in live action.

The plot is much better in this than in the original and Shere Khan is much more involved in the main plot. He has effectively overthrown Scar as Disney's most menacing cat. The movie is cast perfectly, and what a find they made for the kid who plays Mowgli. He's perfect in the role.

I have one major issue with the movie that I'll leave for the Spoiler thread, but it's not enough to ruin the movie. If your inner child isn't dead, go see this movie.

Meh he's overreacting to it. It's good, but doesn't quite have the charm that the animated film had. Gorgeous movie though. The CGI was magnificent for everyone but Baloo. It didn't seem like they had quite finished him. They probably should have made him black or at least a darker shade of brown, but it's definitely an enjoyable movie. Really interested to see where the kid who plays Mowgli goes now as an actor.

SPOILERS

They didn't have Mowgli return to the man village at the end of this one and that bugged me. Also, why the hell is porcupine in a 19th century Indian jungle using the term "my bad"? Took me out of the movie briefly.

The charm of animation is very, very difficult to emulate. I was never expecting it to be as charming as the original. This one is more grand and epic than the original, which is great. They are different from each other in a great way.

I do agree though with your spoiler, which is my major problem with the movie, but I did realize if I've never seen or heard of the Jungle Book that I wouldn't really have a problem with that. If they had done it, it would have put it in a superior category instead of good.

Thought it was great as well. I didn't mind the spoiler above, i think how they ended it was fantastic so I was okay with that change, but can completely understand why someone would take issue with it.

Overall the movie was extremely well done. Looked absolutely gorgeous. Ben Kingsley absolutely nailed it, as usual. All the voice actors did great jobs TBH.

Disney’s “The Jungle Book” roared to a robust $4.2 million on Thursday night.

“The Jungle Book,” whose previews began at 7 p.m., is expected to dominate the U.S. box office this weekend, opening in the $70 million range at 4,028 venues. The live action and CG hybrid, directed by Jon Favreau, has been embraced by critics and carries a 95% Rotten Tomatoes score.

Its $4.2 million preview number matched that of “Maleficent” and was ahead of “Cinderella,” “Oz” and “Zootopia.” Online ticketing service Fandango said Friday that “The Jungle Book” is outpacing “Cinderella,” “Maleficent” and “Oz: the Great and Powerful” in its advance ticket sales.
