Well they've only been filming for 2 months. I guess early next spring we'll see the full length trailer

Just to give a little peek 
It worked for TDK, I guess they are just following the formula. Plant the seed in people's minds in front of what is sure to be the biggest movie of the year. I'm not disagreeing that it wasn't very revealing, but I can understand them not wanting to reveal much while still getting the idea out there.

I remember The Dark Knight started putting out little trinkets here and there like two years before release. Remember that "I Believe in Harvey Dent" campaign poster that dissolved and turned into the bottom half of The Joker's face? That being said, I think throwing the fans something like this every once in a while is pretty sweet.
