Yep. All of the bad reviews, criticism and it still out did a very popular X-Men franchise this year. Obviously Batman's cameo and Joker's very small role had something to do with it, but I think money talks. DC movies can and will make money.

This should be good news if you're a DC fan. Whether you like the movies or not. For those that like them, that's great. For those that don't, you can hope for changes in the future. I do know that they hear the VERY LOUD complaints and that changes have been made. Whether they're the right ones, we'll have to see. I will continue to show optimism for the future and look forward to DC movies coming out next year.

Wonder Woman looks great.

We haven't seen much of JL, but I like what I've seen. The new Batman cowl, more color, and Flash being clean cut are some very minor things that can help. Now, on the other hand, Cyborg looking much more straight forward than the freak of nature they had planed for him was a nice improvement, IMO.

Now we have:

And the absolute #1 reason to continue to have faith, ZACK SNYDER has a VERY limited role in things right now.

We've already seen recently a big announcement with Doug Liman doing Dark Justice League. Expect more real soon. Expect more news for the Man of Steel sequel very soon.

We'll just have to see. As I've said, I will always have faith.

Only time will tell, though. For those that really care about the characters, here's to hope:

Agreed - i mean if DC can weather the shite storm people put the last 2 movies in, they have a chance to recover rather solidly and make great superhero films.

So it should have made almost 200 million more than Civil War made domestically?

it actually picked the best time to come out. this summer has been historically one of the worst summer movie seasons in decades.

people(mostly under 40 crowd) want to go to the movies and they have to see something, so their really isnt much to see.

You must've missed the previous threads on this. Suicide Squad features Batman and Joker which should result in a billion dollar revenue base. Plus it not only stole the concept of a team of super-villains from Guardians of the Galaxy but also to feature popular songs and the idea to premiere a film in August, so that's another half a billion. If it does less than 1.5 billion then it's underperforming. It's a flop. It's a loser. It's Michael Dukakis in a tank.

Totally disagree here. I'm upper 40's, was a huge DC fan growing up, and I like superhero (and other blockbuster) movies.

That said, Marvel has the marquee characters and actors right now. I don't really care about Batman nearly as much as Chris Evans' Capt America or Robert Downey's Tony Stark/Iron Man.
I wasn't that impressed with the way Nolan ended the last Batman trilogy, and this isn't even the same character. If anything, I like Affleck's Batman more than Bale's... but I'm not yet invested the way I am in the Marvel characters. I'm interested in the way the DC characters will develop, but I'm HUNGRY for the continuation of the Marvel guys. And that's as a DC fan.

And besides, Suicide Squad doesn't "feature" Batman and Joker, it has cameos of them, to tie them into the broader story. It's like saying Ant-Man "featured" the Avengers because he raided their base and Falcon made an onscreen appearance, or Deadpool featured the X-Men because of Colossus (or whoever that guy is).

I only hope that DC eventually makes a teen titans movie. Then I'd be super excited about DC compared to marvel. However, I am very excited about JL.

The changes they made hurt this movie. I want to see David Ayers' original version. They need to hire good directors and let them work, or hire a Kevin Feige type guy with a singular vision that can guide the entire DCU. I still liked Suicide Squad but it could have been better.

Stop posting that crap

I'm a bit surprised that SS is doing this well, I thought it would fall off a cliff after opening weekend. It does show theres demand for these DC films. I just hope they get better, cuz SS was a disaster IMO.

I'm not surprised. It wasn't a great movie, but it certainly isnt as bad as some people made it out to be.

I hope DC does well enough to give me another Green Lantern. Justice League just feels odd without Hal.

I'm really surprised it did this well.

Maybe now that DC has dodged the box office bullet from BvS and SS, they can settle the frick down and try to make good movies.
