I think they mean the villain that the SS is fighting. And it isn't the Joker.
And if DC finally put together a movie where the characters are flushed out, it's true enough to the source material to not make fanboys like me want to riot, it's paced well, and it's only downfall is a subpar villain, then I will stand up and clap at the end of the movie.
