re: Suicide Squad--first (likely) look at Joker

It certainly looks like The Joker will look different than that tattoo photo that was released. Some people are going to say they're performing damage control, some will say they were trying to get feedback, some will say they were just pulling a Joker prank. Any way you want to see it, I'm pretty sure he will not have the tattoos and I doubt he has the teeth either.

“Here’s something that might be of interest to you comicbook fans,” Gray wrote. “The promo picture of Leto in SuicideSquad isn’t what he’ll look like…”

Some fans have already questioned the validity of Gray’s claims about Jared Leto’s Joker, saying he isn’t a verifiable source. However, photos snapped secretly on the set of Suicide Squad reveal that Jared Leto as the new Joker does look quite a bit different from the “emo” Joker in the publicity shot, according to Comic Book Movie. None of the tattoos are present and the makeup is significantly toned down. You can see some of the shots of Jared Leto in partial costume as the Joker below.

Some things I liked about it and I would have liked to see how things would have looked in the context of the film (if they ever actually intended to use that version).

Some of those tattoos were just too much, though. I have no problem with them taking a less risky approach.

I like it too. The original Joker was based off the look of gangster types in the heyday of comics.

I think the new joker looks like what a 2000's thug or gangsta looks like.

So a wannabe juggalo that was puked on by a Hot Topic marketing team is dark and gritty?

Take away the forehead tat, the grill, and the "Ha ha ha" shite and this would be fine. As it is it reminds me of what a desperately out of touch corporate suit hopes the young kids think is cool.

Hopefully the backlash will be enough to remove that needless shite that was heaped on a great character for no good reason.

The dude is a solid actor.

That makes me feel better. The lack of the joker smile was my biggest problem with the "official" pic.

Marilyn Manson looks nothing like Jared Leto.

What about it looked like Marilyn Manson?

The only resemblance I see is the white makeup and lipstick.

In Leto's smile his teeth are not together. I'm sure a lot of people would look alike if they put on white makeup and lipstick.
