Glad everyone likes this show, how it flew under the radar up until release I don't know.

This show was a hit IMO. I enjoyed every aspect, from the thrill to the HS drama, to the happy ending. I did have a few comments and questions I have to ask/say. Im bored af at work and am going to just kind of speak freely to pass time so some of this may not make sense.
First off: #JusticeForBarb
Why did no one besides Nancy for like 2 episode, make a huge deal about her missing? I dont think Hopper mentioned her once lol. Did her parents not GAF about her? Poor Barb was dead and gone and no one ever mentioned it. Kinda stayed true to her story of being a "loser" though.
Second: Eleven...She was great. Her disappearance at the end of the finale struck me as she went back to the Upside and is kind of stuck there temporarily. I also think she is the reason the monsters escaped the alternate reality in the first place. The government created this world and these monsters and were testing to see how they would react to humans possible? Her screech while she was first in the upside down that busted the walls thus creating a gate to the real world is the same scream that she did at the end of Ep. * when she disappeared. I definitely think she is still alive.
Hopper: I think he must have struck a deal with the government or something when he got in the car with them at the end. For a while I thought that El was hoppers daughter just a few years down the road but that theory was soon squashed after finding out about the lady whos brain the government turned to mush after convincing her she had a miscarraige. I definitely think El is that womans child and that could lead into season 2.
Will: I think he is going to become evil. I definitely think he is a host for the little slugs or whatever that was that he coughed up. I also think he will be able to go back and forth from reality to the upside down, creating gates everywhere which will just lead to an apocalypse kinda.
Winona is going to lose her shite and go psycho all over again. But then again when is winona not weird and psycho in a movie.(Im 23 give me a break) All ive seen of her is Mr Deeds (crazy), Black Swan(crazy) and Beetlejuice(crazy)
Toothless kid was annoying af.
Lucas was annoying af.
Mike was a great character.
Nancy looked like a porcelain doll.
I hope there is a second season to feed my interest. I also hope this post has thoroughly made you scratch your eyebrows and think wtf is this kid thinking.
Peace

Just finished watching it all last night. Netflix keeps putting out great original content. Sorry if already discussed, but anybody have any explanation on why Chief Hopper gets in the car with bad people at the end. Thought I missed something

I loved it, but I'm totally unable to tell if it's mostly nostalgia or just that good
It's just that good. I was born in late '88, so I didn't experience the 80s, but I was nostalgic for that time watching the show. That's just how well it was executed.

Apologies if this has been discussed but is this the same chord progression that the show uses or is it just that the synths are really throwing me off. Listen to the synths only and don't give up after the first 3 seconds, more comes in shortly after that is also so similar to what the show used:

Listen closely at the beginning and again at 15 seconds.

Loved the show but am I the only one who thought it was weird why in a small town there is this massive CIA/military base with hundreds of workers and nobody knew it was there?
Also why didn't Hopper call the national guard or state troopers?

Just finished. Amazing. It's everything everyone has already said.

One small gripe isWinona Ryder. Though she did better in this than most things I've seen her in, she always seems to take me out of the scene's she's in (except for Beetlejuice). No matter who she's playing, she is Winona Ryder to me. She's Sort of like Jeff Goldblum in that regard.
Also, I'm not sure any high school girl would have had the guts to climb into that tree after seeing the creature take that deer. Not sure what she was expecting to do once she got in there.
I'd also like to know how Will was using the lights to spell out R U N. Were the letters painted in the upside down as well?
Did anyone else think that Lucas was going to kill the monster by shooting a rock into its mouth when it opened it and having it choke to death? That's where I thought they were going, so was pleasantly surprised to have 011 go medieval on its arse.
I absolutely loved this show. Netflix is really rivaling HBO as the best producer of original media.

Help me out. Where have I seen that monster before? It was in a video game or something? Human like but face opens up like a squid.
Here's why the ~monster~ from "Stranger Things" looked so familiar to you
Also the Sand Worm in Dune. And the Graboids in Tremors.

I thought everybody knew it was there? Never came across as secret to me except that they were doing experiments under the guise of it being a US Dept of Energy National Laboratory. If they are doing secret experiments there, it's natural to think that there would be an armed guard presence, but it never felt like CIA/military to me

It was mentioned that some people (Mike's dad and one of the cops) thought (probably jokingly) that they were developing weapons to fight the evil commies. But it being on the outskirts of their small town most people just ignored it.

Just finished. Loved it. I am curious as to the sheriff's deal with the Feds and him leaving food seemingly for 11.

I really don't have the words to describe how amazing that show was.
I was born in 1974 so I literally grew up in the 80's and I was completely sucked in to the 80's feel. Being the nerd/geek that I am, I WAS one of those kids growing up.

I already miss this show. I don't wish it were longer, because it was perfect as is.
Wanting more and not getting it while still feeling fulfilled.
That's the secret to good art.

Just finished. Wow. What an amazing show
One question, idk if it has been discussed but I skimmed over a few pages and didn't see anything. This upside down... when El enters this place through her mind it's all black with a few things here and there. Whereas when someone else would enter it resembled the actual world but more dark and gloomy.
Were both of these places considered the upside down? I'm a little confused about that

Good observation. I never put much thought into it, but there may be something there!

I believe the all black void that El was in was the space between the 2 dimensions that they were using to travel and spy on the Russians
once she touched the monster, it allowed a direct bridge between our world and the upside down world
just my take

Just finished it, loved it. I was slightly bummed at the very end, because I thought Hop was going to end up as the new father of the Byers household. What did the black deputy mean with his wisecrack about "your wife" at the xmas party? I thought that was clearly leading us down that path...

The theme reminds me of the MechWarrior soundtrack, that same sound style.
