This show was absolutely amazing. My wife and I binged it today. Couldn't stop. I can't wait for next season. I'm pretty speechless.

3. If the "Upside Down" is lifeless, how has the monster survived their before the portal?

I disagree.

The writers have gone on record suggesting the monster isn't from the upside down world.

Most likely this monster travels to a universe, consumes it, then moves on. Meaning that when El touched the monster she was not the one who created the tear, it was the monster.she just made the monster aware of their universe's presence.

This is why the original tear is so similar to the mini tears the Monster makes when he hunts. El does not leave those behind when she moves bc her power is more sophisticated.

Also, from the interview, the writers stated that the explanations we received from the show were only from the characters' attempt to explain the situation. It was from their POV and most likely was incorrect.

I got into this show over the weekend...currently through E5 (started E6, but had to cut it off a couple of nights ago).

It's pretty weird, and doesn't make a lot of sense, but I'm digging it so far. Love the 80s feel that it has and am glad it is set during that time (1983, I believe?). Very Goonies/ET feel to it. And it's legit creepy in some spots, which is cool.

And so far, this has got to be the easiest money Matthew Modine has ever made. Outside of the last episode I watched, the first half of the season all he does is just sort of look ominous in weird hazmat suits.

Interested to see how this wraps up in the next few episodes, then look forward to reading this thread to see what you guys think.

Stranger Things may surpass Game of Thrones

I just got done with ST and it's great but it's not even close to GoT IMO.

Agreed; as much as I like ST, its only had 1 season so far. Too hard to say how to rate it this early in the game.

Whereas GoT only has 13 episodes left and will go down as one of the GOAT's.

Late to the party but really enjoying the show so far. Music sounds exactly like mass effect music, which i like.

Trying not to read this thread. I'm only 5 episodes in and it has been great. Can't help but love how 80's this show is.

I've watched twice now, one thing I can't figure out is what made the Sheriff decide Will was really in trouble while in the shed?

I think it was simply intuition. The gun/bullets probably played a role in that intuition.

eta: Organizing a search party for a missing kid isn't great detective work. It's common sense.

He was downplaying it for the most part up until then but he seemed to have an "ah ha" moment at that time and I can't figure it out why.

The bike on the side of the road, the gun/bullets, the mark on the wall of the house. It all added up intuitively.

eta: I think once he found the bike, his tone changed.

I disagree. I just finished my second watch through and I believe that it wasn't her touching the monster that opened the dimensional rift, it was when he turned and roared at her and she flipped out. She screamed so loud that she rocked the facility and let loose a psychic blast that cracked the wall in the lab where the "gate" is now located. She even tells Mike in the episode called "The Monster", where that scene happens, that she created the gate.

Now, I do think it's possible that the monster is responsible for killing and eating everything in the Upside down.

RIP Barb

The actress that played Barb (her first role!) has been hitting social media lately lobbying for a Squirrel Girl movie to be made and to be cast as everyone's favorite furry tailed superhero. A super long shot of course but best of luck to her. I thought the young lady did a great job on Stranger Things.

Amazing series.

I know this isn't new news but I feel like it deserves to be brought up. Netflix is absolutely killing it lately.
