The super star destroyers did not have that T-shaped command structure seen on the ship in the preview, if I remember correctly.

I'm fairly certain it wasn't a super star destroyer in the trailer. Looked like a regular one to me.

not the ship you see in the opening shot of the teaser, but the one you see the tie fighter chase the millennium falcon through at the end of the trailer, it appears to be an upside down hull of a SSD

hold on real quick. Not trying to sound cocky, so please prove me wrong, but I'm pretty sure that ship that is crashed on Jakku in the trailer is NOT a super star destroyer.

If I'm not mistaken, the only true super star destroyers were the three executer class ships. Vader's flagship, Palpatine's flagship, and the Lusankya, which was buried under the surface of Imperial Center (Many consider Palpatine's greatest use of the force was him using it to alter the minds of the billions affected on the planet to forget this ever happened, and forget all the loved ones who were died during the project).

I believe that ship in the trailer to be a normal star destroyer, an interdictor class cruise to be specific because of the remaining dome that I think to be one of the gravity well projectors that made those ships so special. They had the same shape as star destroyers, but were a fair bit smaller, which seems to fit with what we saw in the trailer.

After doing some research, I think that we are both right. Originally Super only refered to those three, but sometime over the last few years it began to be thrown around to include all classes of Star Destroyers.

lol, I was hoping to have a discussion about the big picture these rumors/spoilers paint,,not have it devolve into nitpicking minutae. several posters are incapable of that.

Kylo Ren is not just the Sith Baddy in this movie, but he is literally claiming to be Darth Vader in the flesh.
This I like. It sounds like a cool idea to do with the villain.

He is extremely violent and brutal, killing his own troops if they dare to question his orders or his identity.
I hope there is more to his character than this.

Sorry Tiger, all my fault. There's just not other place to discuss these things, and I wanted to make sure that people:

1.) understood the significance of what a Super Star Destroyer is.

2.) gave some attention to the possible sighting of a rare, and incredible interdictor cruise. Those were so rare, and immediately cast real fear in any squadron leader that happened to come across one.

I'm not a big Star Wars guy by any stretch, but just curious as to whether there will be any over-arching themes in the reboot that apply to our current day and age?

For example, one of the Star Wars movies that came out a few years ago had a "if you're not with us, you're against us" line that was a clear reference to George W. Bush after 9/11.

Maybe it's way too early for anyone to know, but any speculation?

Rumor is there will be a line that says 'If you like your nerf herder, you can keep your nerf herder.'

It's amazing to me that this guy is still alive. He seemed really old 30 years ago in Strange Brew. Just looked it up. He is 86. Good Swedish genes I guess.

flashback scene

Have any of the previous movies used this technique?

Also, if the Kylo Ren stuff is true then this movie seems much more gritty and violent. While that doesn't bother me from a pure entertainment standpoint, it just doesn't sound like Star Wars. Perhaps the change is good, but this could also be the kind of direction that Ace Midnight hates with the new Star Trek movies.

I assumed the "sith" in the trailer was Han and Leia's kid Jacen who turned to the dark side. And Luke's voice over (I know the lines are from Return of the Jedi) was him talking to either Jacen or another next generation of Skywalkers.

I know Disney is not keeping anything post-ROTJ, but a Star Wars universe without Luke's kid, without Mara Jade, without Thrawn, without Han and Leia's kids would be a bummer. But I ultimatley DGAF as long as it's good.

This may be a dumb question, but aren't all stormtroopers clones?

People need to realize that when Lucas made Star Wars he had no intention of the troopers being clones. He didn't even have intentions of making a sequel. No intentions of Vader being Luke's father, Leia being his sister, or pretty much anything that happened later. He made things up as he went along. He was a story teller. Good story tellers are usually habitual liars. He tried to piece things together but it's nearly impossible and it's obvious to those of us who've been fans our whole lives.

all clone troopers were clones, but storm troopers aren't all clones.
