Why did Michael Jordan's kids suck at basketball? It was in their blood after all!

Always aggrivated me that if the R2 unit that uncle Owen wanted doesn't crap out, he never buys R2-D2 and the rest of the movie never fricking happens.

The force works in mysterious ways.

R2 slipped him a c-note for an oil-change if he pretended to short-circuit.

It's my favorite one. Followed very closely by Empire. Then Jedi.

It was ahead of it's time when it was made in 1977. Still looks great in all aspects.

I don't see it flawed at all.

One of my favorite scenes in the entire movie, and it's just a nothing little scene, is the one where Chewie and R2 are playing, I guess it's checkers or chess, but the pieces are little hologramic monsters. That part cracked me up when I was little. I still laugh at it when the R2's big whatever it is body slam's Chewie's piece and he flips out about it.

No one thinks that. Clearly Empire is.

But a New Hope is pretty darn good.

Agreed. I really don't think it gets its just due as a legitimately great film and story.

Think about it -- it was a sci fi film that became a cultural phenomenon before being into sci fi was cool. Plus, in terms of the story itself, it plops you right in the middle of a universe, plot, and entire realm with no backstory or context and the viewing audience wasn't hindered by it at all.

Do you even use the force bro?

Don't know about that ... his father had only raced shitty pods ... and was able to get in a highly advanced fighter and buffoon his way to victory in a full-blown space battle. I highly doubt that young Ani could even see what the (&($ was going on.

But they both had the Midi-Chlorians or how I like to say it.. "Middle Chlorines".......... LOL

He use to drop bombs on womp rats in beggar's canyon. Biggs considered the best bush pilot this side of Mos Eaisley. When han said, "who's gonna fly this ship, you?" Luke responds, "I'm not such a bad pilot."

However, Han piloted a freighter through an asteroid field.

Han >>> Luke

Except for the opening screen crawl, which gave the audience what they needed to know.

Which, from what I read years ago, is why Lucas didn't do the opening credits like most movies did. He felt the audience would be less likely to read the screen crawl after watching words for 3+ minutes.

He copied the technique from the old movie serials from the 30's-40's.

I think he was actually fined or something by the director's guild and maybe some others because of the way he did the opening.

ETA - He resigned from the guild over it.

Well he did used to bullseye womp rats in his T-16 back home.

No they didn't - trust me - just pretend the prequels didn't happen and you'll enjoy one of the trilogies in film history.

I just pretend that Cartoon Menace, Send in the Clones, and Revenge of a whiny-arse-punk who claims to be 'Darth Vader', but is, in fact, not do not exist and my life is way, way more enjoyable.

Lucas hired a fatty to play Porkins.

Well played, Georgie.

"That's 'cause droids don't pull people's arms out of their sockets when they lose. Wookiees are known to do that."

I don't think R2 was too thrilled when CP3O told him to let the Wookie win.

That's probably why he was so cocky. R2 units don't have arms.

I never understood why they spent all that time in the trench attacking the death star. It wasn't covered, they could have avoided the entire thing

And when he tells Wedge to break off after being hit "you cant do anymore back there" the 2 xwing escorts werent doing anything. Just flying, no weapons facing backwards
