I feel like many critics were trying to make some statement.

Agree, though I did think the first one wasn't bad.

Because it's Starship Troopers as Star Trek. It's entertaining to a degree.

But it's not smart.

And definitely not Star Trek.

The new reboots don't respect the audience. They assume we all have ADHD and a 70 IQ.

The second one was more embarrassing than a Scooby-Doo episode.

It's a completely different movie franchise and really has no connection to Star Trek.

They could have called it..."Young Guns in Space" and it wouldn't have mattered.

Absolutely agree. I love Star Trek and refuse to go see this shite after that second movie

Maybe the worst Star Trek movie of all time. Well, maybe the last two TNG movies were worse. They are so bad I remember them as one bad movie, with a cloned Picard and people with stretched faces.

All of the TNG movies were garbage. Basically made us pay for an overlong episode of the TV series.

Star Trek 2009 was close to perfect as far as capturing the spirit of TOS.

Into Darkness was flawed...deeply in some places but wasn't as terrible as some here (who never bothered to watch the movie) like to pretend.

I have high hopes for Beyond, so far the reviews are saying it captures the TOS spirit flawlessly. I cannot wait.

It's hard to believe that cloned Picard was Tom Hardy

I watched the first two and was entertained. I'll watch the third and be entertained.

I liked it, but it was a mindless action movie with time travel. It was nothing close to a Star Trek movie.

You just making shite up now? All of us who didn't like it saw the movie. It was ridiculous, and fans voted it one of the worst ST movies ever made. They all saw it too.

I think he's talking about me. I'm famously done with Star Trek after watching every frame of that terrible, godawful, 2009 film.

Oh, you've never seen it?

Yeah, you'll probably want to avoid it if you hated the first one. All of the shitty, formulaic qualities and none of the appealing ones.

more downvotes than up, so people actually liked "final frontier??" How about this in the book "The autobiography of James T Kirk" the fifth movie is actually a movie that the cast watched about them, instead of actually being a part of their past. Like it never happened the fifth movie (and my first Star Trek theater experience) was the worst of the 12 star trek movies hands down.

Hey guys lets go to the center of the universe to find God, oh that's not God that Spock's brother, who may be God?

I'm such an idiot, I mixed up the fifth and the sixth ones. The sixth one is pretty good. The fifth one is a god awful movie. The downvotes are right and I myself downvoted myself.

Not all of you ;-). Ace knows who I am referring too.

Sorry, the "fans" of Star Trek who have all this hate for "JJ Trek" are a vocal minority. The movie cleaned up at the box office and at the end of the day...that's the important bit.

Did the story suck in places. Without question. The dumbest thing was making the main villain Khan. Had he just been a guy named John Harrison then it would have been a flawed but decent Star Trek romp.

Even first contact.

Which don't get me wrong was the best of them...but I really didn't need to see yet another episode of the Borg.

The problem with the studios is they keep rehashing the same shite over and over again and we...the fans...keep giving them money to do it.

It is why I am more intrigued with Beyond because it appears to be something new while touching on the things that made TOS so good.

We shall see in 4 days I guess.

It always mystifys me the people who have an issue with this....I mean...it was totally a gratuitous mostly nude thing...but really people all up in arms over this when you consider the number of mostly naked chicks in TOS always surprises me.

Star Trek TMP trailer

Then look at the trailers for the reboots, you don't even have to see the movies to know it's not the same universe.

It's not just age or dumbing down Star Trek for teenagers...the vibe and approach is 100% different.

I have little doubt Ace would hate it.

Hell I had issues with it :P
