I thought it had been established that it was set post-Star Trek VI

I hadn't seen that...everything I had heard and read said it was in that period between Enterprise and TOS....guess we will see soon.

All three of them are cast wonderfully... But it didn't work this time, I blame writing and directing

So.. They made Sulu gay in the new series because Takei is gay in real life?

I just played the Comic Con trailer for Mrs. Midnight cold.

She say, "Kind of Klingony."

Very good. Nice nods to Enterprise (and that universe - I really enjoyed it).

Liked the Spock/Bones interactions. Hearkened back to TOS.

The Sulu gay thing was very subtle and didn't bother me.

Knowing Yelchin is dead made his parts kind of sad.

Definitely top tier of the Trek movies.

Just got out and thought it was great. The nod to the original was awesome. The song in tune with the battle was first class. 8.5/10

Just saw it. It's pretty intense, action-wise. But VERY poorly edited.

7/10

ETA: SPOILER ALERT

I like how the series is hinting at Kirk's death with the Nebula on the horizon

SPOILER ALERT

So Krull, the captain of the USS Franklin, never looked over where they crashed and wondered where the hell his ship was?

Nah man, he was immortal now and hated unity. That's the logical progression when your ship crashes.
