That surprises me. I liked the first and second (sorry Ace) but I've had zero interest in the trailers so far.
I could have gone without them having in the trailers that the Enterprise is going to be replaced in movie.
But I am somewhat interested to see what they do with what I assume to be their first solo plot run, as opposed to leaning on nostalgia.

Yeah bad analogy.
Starship Troopers is Kurt Vonnegut good.
The modern version of Dr. Strangelove.
I guess my point was the modern Star Treks look like that without the irony or subversive undertones.
They play that playfulness straight. It's a cartoon.

This one looks pretty decent. I really enjoyed the first one. The second one was just ok. I may go and see this if I can convince some friends to not see it without me.

Just got out.
Liked it a lot. I wish Justin Lin was directing Justice League instead of Snyder

Put Garak in it and I'll trample toddlers to get in!

it was meh. The final trailer for the 09 film was perfection of perfection.

How anyone on here who identifies themselves as a conservative didn't like Into Darkness is beyond me! They wiped out a massive swath of liberalsisco with the Vengeance. You all know you jizzed a bit at that!

I'm such an idiot, I mixed up the fifth and the sixth ones. The sixth one is pretty good. The fifth one is a god awful movie. The downvotes are right and I myself downvoted myself.
I'm glad you corrected yourself and I forgive you.

Just got out.
Was pretty damn good. Action and humor had the right balance with a good trek story backdrop.
The only thing I didn't like was the villain wasn't one of the typical federation big bads...I really wish we could get Klingons in the Kelvin timeline.
Other then that it was pretty damn good...I think even Ace might enjoy it.

Just got home. I thought it was very good, much better than the last one.
Pegg's influence on the humor is noticeable.

Saw it this evening. At first blush it was ok. Some full retard moments but not a complete demolition of the entire series as I was expecting.
I keep counting down the time until star trek returns to being complete arse again. Won't be long. But this film isn't that.

That sounds promising. I really like Pegg's humor.

For those that watched it in 3D, how was the 3D?

I've really enjoyed the first two films. Does anyone know if this is just a trilogy, or are they planning on making them until they bust?

This is exactly what I want. Really bummed the Klishkin (spelling) character isn't in it anymore. I thought he was great as well.

Are you talking about the Chekov? If you are, I mean he's in the movie. He didn't die before they filmed it.
They did say they won't replace him though. Not sure how you explain that in the film. I hope they don't somehow kill him off.
