Shane Gillis Set To Host SNL Feb 24

quote:

Hours after Gillis was announced to be joining “SNL” in 2019, videos resurfaced on social media that featured him making racist, homophobic, Islamophobic and misogynistic jokes on his own podcast and other media.

Why would he even entertain hosting the show other than to throw it in every single cast members face?

“Hey aren’t you that guy that got fired from SNL?”

Shane: Yeah…then they asked me to host.

Tonight may have been the worst episode ever, it’s not too late to back out Shane

Yeah, that Norm monologue was fricking hilarious, taking the piss out of Ohlmeier getting him canned for “not being funny” by reveling in it when he was brought back to host.

Most of the 1994-1995 season has been blocked out of my memory due to how bad it was. I wasn’t around for the 1980-1981 season but it was supposed to be dreadful too.

1995 had Norm, Sandler, Spade, Farley, Mike Myers, Meadows, Michael McKeon, Jay Mohr, Janine Garoffolo, Molly Shannon, and others on the cast. There isn't anyone even in the same universe as that cast on the current one.

The problem in that season was far from the cast… it was the writing.

Not so coincidentally, a number of those same writers ended up in The Simpsons as it bridged from being a classic to “WTF is this shite?” around the 8th or 9tb season.

“I got fired for not being woke enough. So either I got more woke or the show got more racist.”

It was Bowen Yang, the gay Asian dude that got him fired. He said publicly he couldn’t work with a racist and it would trigger him

Btw Shane shows up at Rogans comedy club 2/3 times a week now that he moved to Austin. Trying to get tickets to see him over spring break

Shane is pretty funny but not "host snl" funny. It just shows you how far the show has fallen.

I disagree. His sketch work is actually better than his stand up. He'll deliver a solid show and elevate the material.

Also what is "host SNL" funny? Paris Hilton, Seagal, Steve Forbes, Steinbrenner, Nancy Kerrigan. Lots of shitty hosts in the history of the show. A naturally funny dude who has sketch experience and was considered strong enough to be cast on the show? He's probably going to be top third (not that that is any particular rarefied air) in all time hosts just based on the pedigree.

I tried to find evidence of this and came up empty. Could it be true that you're just making shite up?
