It was Bowen Yang, the gay Asian dude that got him fired. He said publicly he couldn’t work with a racist and it would trigger him

I never saw a public statement, but it was more the news media making assumptions since he was the first Asian cast member. Maybe there is some truth to it, and maybe a source told the media that he was not pleased, but there’s no public statement.

The media did the same shite last week when Chappelle showed up on stage during the credits. They made up some story about Yang being disappointed about Dave’s presence since Yang was standing on the opposite side of the stage from Dave.

Bowen Yang Distances Himself From Dave Chappelle During ‘SNL’ Good Night Segment

On the flip side, if I were Yang and did not care about Gillis or Chappelle, I would be calling out the media for all the bullshite.

That was pretty bad honestly. Although I suspect beating the last two years of SNL is a pretty low bar.

Shane doesn't have the stones that Norm had. Norm could have coasted and been the heir to Letterman. He just did not give a single frick. He's the GOAT. RIP

Btw Shane shows up at Rogans comedy club 2/3 times a week now that he moved to Austin. Trying to get tickets to see him over spring break

I’m at a conference in downtown Austin this week and walked by the mothership tonight and it looked to be hopping. Didn’t realize it was right on 6th. Ballsy of Rogan.

his whole thing about downs and how it nicked him so he is a bit of a day walker himself and his uncle Danny who has downs and his grilled cheese sandwiches. All great material.

Norm had too much to say and wasn’t willing to play the game like Letterman did.

It’s clear Norm didn’t need Hollywood to love him the way Kimmel, Stern and the rest do.

MacDonald was a comedy god, but let's not pretend that he didn't play the Hollywood game when he had to. The guy went on The View, hat in hand, to apologize for minimizing the MeToo movement. Whether it was his career or wanting to be liked, he picked his battles just as Letterman did.

In what way? Popular comedian/celebrity opens expensive club on crowded, expensive club street. Sounds pretty normal.

Not shocked that Bowen has thin skin. If you watch the outro where all of these guests are on stage with the cast and Dave Chappelle, Bowen is standing as far away from Dave as possible and noticeably glaring at him. Bowen has a reputation for outbursts and being rude to random people. Bowen is rarely funny (his Santos character was awesome, though), so him also being insufferable is completely predictable.

I was listening to an old MSSP yesterday and it just so happened they bright up SNL and Yang. Shane said he’s cool with Yang and there was never any issue there.
