It's the best show that mixes up comedy and heartfelt moments. The music plays an even bigger part that differentiates itself from other comedies.

The 4th episode "My Old Lady" is wearing scrubs finds his footing and never lets off

And Hospitals are never going to change and that's 90% of the shows setting.

It was faggy ahead of its time.

Coincidentally, I always thought it was a little childish

I never got into it.

Off the top of my head, I like the following comedies significantly more:

South Park
Arrested Development
The Office
It's Always Sunny
Silicon Valley

When it comes to comedies, I'm a simple guy. Just make me laugh, and IDGAF about lovable characters, social commentary, or moments that are supposed to make you sad for some reason.

Yes, it's like they found the perfect song every time.

Probably my second favorite long running comedy of all time behind Parks and Rec.

Super quotable too.

And a bazillion others, but I have to get ready for work right now.

I read once where Christa Miller (who played Jordan) was the #1 driving force behind much of the music selection. As Music Director, she'd make recommendations to Bill Lawrence about what might be a good fit, musically.

Since she's married to him, he's smart and he listens.

Interesting. I always just assumed that it was driven by Braff, given his similar music choices in his other projects.

Also interesting, for syndication some of the songs had to be changed due to licensing issues. So unless you are watching the DVDs, a number of episodes have entirely different music than from the original run.

That show inspired me to get a black best friend. Best decision I ever made.

The Office and Seinfeld are the best non-aging shows IMHO.

Yeah, I always assumed that Braff made the music choices, too. I'd heard that Christa Miller was responsible for it, but didn't know till I dug deeper this morning that she is married to Bill Lawrence.

Also of note is that Michael Muhney (the sheriff from Veronica Mars and more recently Adam Newman on The Young and the Restless) was the frontrunner to play JD.

Seinfeld will be good in 100 years. Because it's about nothing but human interaction and petty grievances, both of which aren't going away.

Scrubs is absolutely childish, doesn't mean it isn't a fantastic show that holds up today
