Rewatching The Walking Dead - Shane was the GOAT survivor (SPOILERS)

I'm a little over halfway through Season 2 and I find myself rooting for Shane every step of the way. He had some mental problems, but he never made any decisions to put the group in harm's way. Every time I see Rick or Dale on screen I'm just sitting there thinking jeez you guys are idiots.
RIP to the guy who was built for the zombie apocalypse from the start. Dale even said it when he was caught in the swamp trying to hide the guns from Shane. He told him he belonged in the world they were living in now. Is that so wrong?

I might agree with you if he had the balls to finish what he started when he opened that barn full of walkers, but Rick was the only one with the stones to put down zombie Sophia.

Shane was perfect for that kind of world because he was a lunatic. He would have been worse than Negan. Rick's problem is that he was a good guy, so it was hard to figure out the balance needed mentally to not go full on Shane/Negan//Governor. Shane literally only cared about Lori and I guess Carl.

Negan would have killed Shane immediately. Shane couldn't be controlled by using fear of harm to others and Shane would not have served under Negan so Negan would of had no choice but to (reluctantly) kill Shane.
