thoughts so far through season 1...

1. didn't realize so much happened in season 1

2. Ted while annoying as all get out, his personality is a must have for his character. I'm not aware of Radnor's work before HIMYM, but I wouldn't be surprised if his career took a huge hit after this series. Definition of type cast IMO. Actually, I don't think you can even consider it type casting. There's just no returning from playing a whiny bitch for 9 seasons.

3. Frick Lily! Marshall "The Big Fudge" Erickson is one of the GOAT tv characters, and for her to bail on him like that after 9 years is bullshite. Kinda wish he never takes her back, but that's just me being petty.

4. After rewatching season 1 and knowing how the series ends...sorry for spoilers if you don't know...I'm not sure if Ted going back after Robin is the right play. Are we really supposed to buy the premise that they would end up happily ever after? Robin is a cluster frick of commitment and daddy issues (daddy issues addressed later, I know). Are we to think that since Ted fulfilled his dream of getting married and having kids (with the mother) that he belongs with Robin now that the mother has passed away?

I know there is still a lot of story to watch and will probably close some gaps in my memory of the show, but for now he should have stayed with Victoria. I'd eat some cupcakes off her cupcakes, amirite?

Loved seasons 1+2 didn't feel the show held up long after that.

Shame we never found out who the slutty pumpkin was

I started watching season 1 again last night as well, interesting. I've gone through the entire series 3 times. It's my favorite

I thought up until around S5 or 6 it was top notch. The final season was very disappointing. Might do a rewatch soon as well. Still one of my favorite shows.

Is it really Happily Ever After or "We're both old and Robin is still single because of all the issues you listed"?

Proves my point. They rehashed an old storyline after the writers ran out of ideas.

So let me see this thought process

- It's a shame we don't find out who she is

- We do

- Oh, well I stopped watching and that proves my point that they rehash storylines.

So, if rehashing storylines is a negative for you, then how come you wanted them to rehash a storyline for you to find out who she is?

HIMYM has a great re-watchability factor. I've seen lots of episodes multiple times...and still funny. I tend to stick with the first 3-4 seasons though, and skip most of the Stella stuff.

They ruined Victoria by bringing her back in the last season or two IMO

Yep. Marshall is the only character in the show (main group) that is actually a good person. He deserves so much better.

I never get tired of your username

IDK I just loved the show initially and became really sour on it. It is like a Breesus/South Park thing

I never watched the show all the way through, only when I was in the same room as my wife when she was watching it. Is hating Lily a common thing? She's not attractive, extremely annoying, and I did see most of the arc where she left Marshall to go do some stupid bullshite.

I don't know if it is a common thing, but there is definitely a sizable group that hates her.

Spoilers

She actually almost ditches him 3 times, only following through with it once.

For the most part I liked Lily. Her and Marshall were best as the perfect quirky couple. Whenever they tried to insert any drama between them it just turned Lily into a bitch.

She was at her best being the best friend's wife and the mom of the group.

I broke up the San Francisco one into two instances because there was the "drink the milk" episode where she doesn't actually leave, then when she does actually bolt. The other one is when she almost bolts to Italy when Marshall is struggling and they just had the kid.
