The did that for 2 seasons before the finale. The finale was perfect for what they had set up to that point (which was terrible). The actual finale made sense tho

about 5 eps deep into season 4 now. thoughts so far...

1. lily still sucks. writers tried to make her more appealing by getting rid of that burnt orange hair and dressing her a bit more "sexy", but it didn't work. her attitude and persona still suck.

2. I kind of think Stella's a bitch. she had valid points within all her and Ted's arguments, but she tarnished it all when she moved back to NY with Tony. she was so adamant about not moving from NJ cause of her daughter, job, etc. Also, clearly ted did not see that her issue with ex's at a wedding wasn't about robin. It was about her knowing she was not over Tony. she even admitted things between ex's never go away to Ted! but he didn't catch on it. Oh well. Knowing what I know now, it had to be done I guess. Frick her for hating Star Wars! haha

3. didn't realize how soon Barney falls for Robin, but I have my reasons for why I think it was needed. Without each other, Barney and Robin have no show value. It is entertaining to watch him run through the dimes he does though haha. And all Robin brings to the table right now is flashbacks to Robin Sparkles and her dad raising her like the son he never had haha. I think it'd be hard to keep the audience attracted to both characters without them having something valuable to chase towards. Especially for 5 more seasons.

4. Intervention episode was classic! Ted's renaissance fair antics and Robin getting in touch with her Canadian past and accent.

Anyone else notice how often someone's cell phone rings during important scenes?

Feel like it happens all the damn time. It gets old.

Pretty much all of this. The last episode makes maybe the entire show, but definitely the last season, pointless. If the end goal was Ted and Robin then why stretch Robin and Barney's into a full season extravaganza? Why build up the Mother over the entire series only to kill her off in 30 seconds? It didn't even seem like they tried to make her death impactful. It was just a tool used to clear the way for Ted and Robin.

To me the last season has no rewatchability except LINK, and that's how you know it was a failure.

I'm not sure how well its known, but there's actually a countdown throughout the episode leading up to Lily telling Marshall that his dad died

What do you mean?

Also, Jason didn't know what Allyson was going to say. They kept that last line of the script out. And he improvised.

Like numbers popping up in the background from 50 down to 1, which was the number on Lily's cab

I just read that part too about Jason not knowing the line. Pretty interesting
