There's a new series there... "One Mississippi"... shot in Mississippi.
And guess what the theme song is?
"Jambalaya".
You know... that Hank Williams song which just a couple of months ago I opined on this board should be the official state song of LOUISIANA.
I mean, WTF Amazon? Jambalaya is not a Mississippi song.
I should sue.

And, for the record, down in the extreme southern part of the state, From Hattiesburg, south, and even to a lesser extent from McComb/Liberty, etc, south, has a lot more in common with the culture depicted in that song than it does with Tupelo/Jackson/Oxford/Meridian, etc. On the other hand, from about Ferriday/Vidalia, north to Tallulah (even Bastrop), the Louisiana side of the delta has more in common with the Mississippi side of the river (Natchez, Vicksburg, etc.) than it does with the rest of Louisiana(IMHO).

Well, the song talks about pulling the pirougue down the bayou. And he sings a phrase in French. And he talks about the Thibadeauxs and the Fontenots. Jambalaya, crawfish pie, file gumbo.
The song couldn't be more about Louisiana. It's got nothing at all to do with Mississippi.

Did you even watch it bro? They talk about the airport in the first 5mins of the show.The whole episode may take place in N.O.?!? Some of it looks like it could be around diamondhead.

Yeah, well, I don't associate Diamondhead with jamabalaya, pirogues, and Thibodeaux's... nor should you. I strenuously object to the attempt at cultural appropriation. Let Mississippi get its own cultural song, like "Catfish and Hush Puppies", maybe.

The show is based on the Mississippi gulf coast which is more in line with New Orleans than the vast majority of Mississippi, he'll more than most of louisiana as well.

Last I checked, South Mississippi was originally part of Louisiana. Biloxi was the capital of the Territory in 1720. Bay St. Louis and the surrounding area is a bedroom community of New Orleans. South Louisana is more culturally similar to the Mississippi Gulf Coast than it is with North Louisiana.
