It was fantastic. I dislike Nolan movies in general, but I really liked that one. One of my most enjoyed movies in a long time.

I don’t know about anybody else, but Harry Truman’s bare butt cheeks were a bit much.

Just got out. It's great but I wish they would have talked a little more science development into the bomb. Guess I'll go down the YouTube rabbit hole for that. RDJ absolutely nails his roll. This movie should rake in some Oscars

Fantastic movie

Needs more time to marinade in my mind but that may have been my favorite Nolan film.

Cillian Murphy should win best actor. He wore so much emotion on his face. You could feel his pain without him saying a word. RDj should win best supporting.

I’ve read a couple of books on the subject. It would be impossible to cover that in a three act movie Oppenheimer’s life. They did go over the major scientific breakthroughs that led to the bomb. You’re going to lose a lot of mass appeal going too deep.

I’ve always wanted HBO to do a Chernobyl style mini series on it. I can’t decide if the movie’s popularity helps or hurts that

People who somehow want “more” about the science and engineering of the bomb than what this movie already gives are the people who like those really niche, historically accurate, but dramatically flat movies like Tora, Tora, Tora (or as Roger Ebert called it, “Bore-a, Bore-a, Bore-a.”

Now that spoilers are open... what I meant earlier was the silence during the gadget explosion. Everyone expected the gadget explosion sound to be over the top in imax, but the silence I thought actually added to the scene. Then the rush of sound during the blast wave.

The countdown is quite gripping. They do that Shepherd’s tone thing Nolan’s musical composers do to ratchet up the tension and for a very quick moment, you believe that something might go wrong with the test…whether dud, fizzle, or uncontrolled atmospheric ignition…even though by all reason, you know exactly what happened.

Very tense scene. I wear a Whoop and my stress level was maxed out lol. The aftermath was surreal with everybody clapping and cheering but I felt a wave of emotion, not happiness but more of “what the hell did we do?” it felt like most the theatre thought the same thing and I think that’s what Nolan was shooting for. He really drove it home with CM pandering to the crowd in the auditorium after

The tragic parallels between Oppenheimer and Turing are crazy. Two brilliant eccentric men, both responsible for helping end World War 2 and changing the course of history, both embarrassed and shunned when they should have been hailed as heroes.

Here’s a video of an extra on the film that talks about what it’s like to work with Nolan. Caveat, it’s a TikTok link but if you’re not on there yet then grow up.

He did fine however the entire time I watched all I could think was.. I just am not really buying it…

If I could recast that part, I’d go Kyle Chandler . I think he would’ve been much better

I feel like Oppenheimer was too hard on himself but I understand why he felt as he did as he was a scientist and not a military mind. However, his original justification for building the bomb (world peace) more or less proved prophetic. True peace will never be attainable but it is interesting that since 1945 there hasn't been a major war involving two or more of the "great powers" pitted against each other on the battlefield. That's almost 80 years. You have to go back almost 2,000 years to find a period in history that has a parallel to the "Long Peace" of the 20th/21st centuries.
