This may be crackpot but I'm pretty sure there is some turtle imagery in the first part of the trailer when Georgie hits his head. The big thing that is blocked off and covered up is most definitely in the shape of a turtle.

*spoiler*
Really hope they do the cosmic battle, was a great payoff at the end of the books

Spoilers kinda:

Is there anyway they can change the ending and get rid of the spider? I watched this as a kid when it was 2 VHS cassettes. The first one is probably the most lasting horror experience from a movie of my life but the second is so stupid and terrible it's hard to believe it's part of the same work. It's always bothered me and I've always wished it could have ended differently, and better.

The original ones or the ones where Detta, Eddie, and Oy dont exist and Roland is black?

Yeah I'm pretty pissed about that as well. I really wanted to see Odetta call Roland and Eddie a couple of "honky sumbitches".

Yeah.... no! That honor belongs to The Dark Tower books.

I've read almost everything King has written. A lot of it twice. I am not at all trying to be contrary but I have to say, I don't think the Dark Tower series is as great as a lot of y'all do. The books are not consistently awesome. There are some that are, and there are some parts of others that are. But a few really drag out and are bloated.

I think the Dark Tower gets its praise from being his "opus" that ties everything in the Kingverse together. We think it's awesome because we are told it is, and we expect it to be. But seriously, you can't tell me all 7 books (8 if you count The Wind Through the Keyhole) are his best work.

I have to give top honors to The Stand.

With IT coming in a close second.

I've read The Stand 3 times and IT 4. I'm about to download the Kindle version to my phone and start again.

You could be my alter.

Stand I could not put down.

It, I had to put down a couple times. The standpipe scene and Pennywise dancing while holding a severed baby leg.

In addition, I am not skimming 8 pages. It may be covered. don't the boys run a train on Betty? As boys???!!!

That can't stay in the movie?

I do. I don't remember a scene with pennywise dancing and I read this like 2 months ago.

Did you read the book?

The book explains that IT is the embodiment of evil from another dimension. Our human brains can't even fathom its true form. When the kids see it, their brains scramble to assign some known figure of their deepest fear to it. Their fear is manifest as a giant spider.

For this movie, I say either use King's own words to explain the spider, or CGI some other scaryass motherfricking thing that makes the audience shite their collective britches.

I started reading it again last night.

I caught myself saying things like, "Fudge that", "Nope", "There is something seriously F-ed' up in his head (King)". "WTf am I reading?" That sort of talk.

Someone had to bring up the severed leg.

And he danced a "jig".

the act of dancing a "jig" makes you just look half mad anyway. Add a severed baby leg?

Bev, not Betty. And yes, we covered it. I think the consensus is that it's a fricked up scene and even King regrets writing it. He's admitted he was higher than camel pussy on cocaine back then.

The book is infinite times horrific as the movie, (outside Curry's excellent portrayal) and the stories about Derry being so corrupt and F-ed up.

Imaging seeing a F-ing clown chomp the armpit of some guy still alive and acting like he is normal. F-ed up. I'd pass out if I saw that shite in real life.

If they show any of this shite in the movies you will have a new exorcist on your hands. Grown arse men getting counseling for being so freaked out.

People were sick watching a trailer for that new Cannibal movie, RAW, I read about. Imagine this?

Most excited for a movie I have been in a long time. Read the book earlier this year and loved it.

This explains A LOT. The book is so strange that it makes you question if reality is truly fiction and the laws of physics are applied to the mundane, but reality is truly just whatever you wish it to be (as Pennywise seems to entail).

I was arguing with a friend over lunch about this movie. I think it has a chance to be absolutely amazing IF they stick to the book, given advances in film making and CGI. He thinks it's going to be stupid as hell, but he also never read the book. I tried to explain that the book is genius and frightening, but he's having none of it.

You can lead a horse to water, I suppose.

No I have not read the book and I understand the manifestation of fears thing but there has to be something scarier to a bunch of adults than a silly giant looking spider.

It would have been better if it had just stayed whatever it was that scared the kids when they were little. (Georgie, Bev's dad, the Werewolf etc...) and just changed depending on whose point of view you were seeing it from in that scene.
