His scream is supposed to be equivalent to a nuclear explosion. Now this could be understated because of the times but that's what we are going off of.

IMO I think his scream is more powerful than a nuclear explosion.

If Marvel says that it's not, then it is not.

Black Bolt's most devastating offensive weapon, and one of these phenomena based upon the particle interaction, is his actual voice. A whisper can level a city, cause distant dormant volcanoes to become active once more, and generate tremors on the far side of the planet. A hyper-sonic shout has been said to generate enough force to destroy planets.

It's strange that she can shrug off a nuclear warhead exploding but a little lightning from Storm put her down. (and I'm not sure the Storm/WW matchup was one of the fan vote ones in that series - there were some the writers decided).

Bottom line is that with decades of continuity, there will be all kinds of crazy stuff that appears on panel.

Not like they are, but come on, let's not automatically throw them out because your side may not win. And there are more well placed DC characters left.

I'm not throwing out the results, I'm just stating the fact that the results will be based more on popularity than honest evaluation.

When the Marvel folks' main argument is that DC makes their character's too strong, and then they still vote for the other character, it is what it is.

But if Blue Beetle can automatically defeat anyone and there's no argument outside of Lantern, then what's the point? If they are REALLY that powerful, then this was pointless.

And everyone is saying Superman is beatable on the contrary. And I'm assuming so is WW.

I don't know where the part about his voice being able to destroy planets comes from, but here is what Marvel's own character description says about his powers:

quote:

Black Bolt has the ability to unleash great destructive power through the use of his voice, but even the slightest whisper will release his power. Therefore, for the most part, he remains silent. This "quasi-sonic" scream is powered by electron energy that he draws in from the environment. At maximum the force is equal to that caused by the detonation of a nuclear weapon. Other possible manifestations of this harnessed electron energy include electron energy blasts, flight, enhanced strength (the "Master Blow" being a superhuman punch), ability to survive in space, and the ability to analyze and manipulate matter. The fork-shaped antenna that Black Bolt has worn upon his brow since childhood enable him to channel his powers in more directed, less destructive ways. Due to the fear of speaking while sleeping, Black Bolt practices a form of meditation, which may also help to enhance his abilities

Beetle can't beat just anybody. I named several people that could've beat him besides a Lantern (they are in one of my previous posts from the earlier thread). But Jean Grey was not capable of taking him out. And the people's argument against him was that DC made him too powerful. I never posted anything about him that wasn't in the comics.

No the argument was really that the Scarab=Phoenix and in that case, Jean wins easily.

How are they better than Marvel's own descriptions? I thought Comic Vine was a fan page, no?

Because the Marvel page is never updated, it doesn't even include recent storylines.

It's like Wikipedia for Comics, which, to me, is more comprehensive.

No, that was a false argument because it was previously determined that Phoenix wasn't being used in this tournament, and that Reyes was in the tournament. After that point was determined, then the argument was that DC made Beetle too powerful.

Haven't we beat the Beetle vs Jean horse enough?

I'm still in the side of WW beats BB, nothin I've seen says that his voice can hurt her, and there's the whole "stopping a nuclear missile" thing soooooo there you go. Bracelets stop shout, lasso on, pummel to death at half the speed of light.

Oh, and boobs.

I took from it that Sentry did not want to frick with Black Bolt.

That is saying something!

No the problem is seemingly some characters are getting these extremely powerful forms and others are not. Usually slanted towards DC because, yes their characters just seem more powerful.

It's obvious that, like you said their are more Marvel people, there wasn't enough knowledge about the Reyes Beetle or Zatanna, etc. to make it really fair. We left out Scarlet Witch on purpose. We left out Phoenix on purpose. That's the problem. We either should have included those characters, or left out the DC equivalents.

Another Marvel person left out, for a reason.
