They showed Batman in The Bat seconds before explosion as a close up.

That got a laugh when he was revealed. And I'm glad he was in the movie as well. Only Batman villain to appear in 3 movies ever (in the same Realm at least)

General consensus is if he did escape it, he wasn't in it, since he fixed the Auto-Pilot six months before the bomb went off and he "died"

His Joker character would not have been satisfied by being relegated to a nonsense role. How can he create utter chaos that way? Would've been an insult to what Ledger did in TDK

Agree.
I felt there should have been at least one reference to the Joker being locked up, but that's about it.
