The first movie was completely terrible, but the books are actually a very enjoyable read. I think they're usually like 350-400 pages, but you can knock out each book in two or three days just reading at night before you go to sleep. Had the movie not gone after the teenyboppers and been closer to the book it would've had to be a hard R. I think the biggest failing of the film was showing how truly fricked up and evil the Capitol was to the districts.

its just hard for me to watch something where a frumpy 20-something female is supposed to be the lead.

the district stuff was so lame, and the actual games weren't that brutal. like you said, they were going for the twilight saga teenie bopper crowd and made it suck.

For the longest time I hated it too. I watched maybe the first 45 minutes or so and quit. I watched it again years later and didn't necessarily hate it... but I didn't think it was all that great.

One movie that I wish I had gave up on was Jeepers Creepers. What a waste of 2 hours of my life.

I was going to say this as well. I decided to grind through it and I can't say I knew what was going on by the time it ended. Maybe I need to get baked too

Stigmata. Walked out of the theatre in high school because my friends wanted to leave and I couldn't drive yet. I thought it sucked too, but I still would have stayed and finished it since I paid for it. Still haven't seen it all the way through, so I may give it another shot if I ever come across it flipping through the channels

One of my favorite movies. You have to go into it without expecting a "war movie" though. It came out at the same time as Saving Private Ryan and with the way it was marketed, people expected Saving Private Ryan, The Pacific, when going by who the director was, everyone should have expected Days of Heaven on Guadalcanal instead.

The first cut was 5 hours! I'd love to see that if they can some day bring it back.

The cast was incredible, and even more incredible, a lot of them got cut completely during editing or had their screen time reduced to like 2 seconds:

Jim Caviezel
Sean Penn
Elias Koteas
Nick Nolte
John Cusack
Adrien Brody
John C. Reilly
Woody Harrelson
Jared Leto
John Travolta
George Clooney
Bill Pullman
Gary Oldman
Mickey Rourke
Lukas Haas
Viggo Mortensen

It also has my favorite Hans Zimmer score.

Girlfriend made me go see it in theaters. I think I fell asleep during it.

Currently trying to watch Jupiter Ascending. Not sure if I'm going to be able to make it through.
